What the role is:
[LTA-TRO] LEAD SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, TRAFFIC & ROAD INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
What you will be working on:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to spearhead the development of cloud-based software solutions with a focus on AI-driven applications and agile delivery methodologies. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight of development initiatives, requiring expertise in modern cloud technologies, AI integration, and proven ability to guide agile development teams. The new IT systems will serve LTA, contractors and government agencies for efficient road and traffic operations and seek to improve the journey of commuters and motorists.
Technical Leadership and Software & AI Development
Pioneer technological solutions through rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development.
Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient cloud-native applications incorporating AI capabilities using modern frameworks and architectures that suits the users' needs.
Provide technical guidance to development teams and establish coding standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
Craft high-quality, maintainable code that addresses real user needs. Build and maintain robust automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Drive technical excellence through code reviews and best practice implementation and ensure adherence to quality standards whilst mentoring junior and mid-level developers in both traditional development and AI implementation.
Create comprehensive technical documentation and architectural decision records.
Cloud Architecture & AI Integration
Design and implement robust cloud-based solutions leveraging platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Develop microservices architectures, containerised applications, and serverless solutions that incorporate AI capabilities.
Agile Leadership & Collaboration
Champion agile methodologies within the development team.
Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters, designe
ical solutions with rapid iteration cycles to deliver user-centric solutions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adaptive planning.
What we are looking for:
Technical Skills
Knowledge in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 5-7 years of proven experience in software engineering roles with at least 3 years in cloud-based development. 2 or more years of experience in developing AI/ML solutions will be a plus.
Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and software design patterns.
Excellent understanding of software development methodologies including Agile and DevOps practices as well as CI/CD pipelines tools (GitLab CI, Github workflows, Jenkins).
Full-stack development mastery:
Fronten React or other modern JavaScript frameworks
Backen NodeJS, Python, Golang
Databases: SQL and NoSQL systems
AI & Machine Learning Knowledge
Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and AI development lifecycle.
Knowledge of MLOps practices including model versioning, deployment, and monitoring.
Knowledge of cloud AI services and APIs for computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
Cloud & Agile Expertise
Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of their AI/ML services.
Strong understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
Experience with agile project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello).
Leadership & Communication
Abie to lead cross-functional agile teams and mentor developers in both traditional and AI development practices.
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience facilitating agile ceremonies and promoting agile principles.
