Manage the student recruitment process for the Bachelor of Integrative Studies and Individualised Second Major programmes, including the collation of BIS and ISM proposals, scheduling of faculty-student interviews, submission to RO/UCC, and communication with students and faculty members on outcomes and faculty advisor assignment.
Co-conduct annual course and teaching load planning for the Core Curriculum, BIS and PGR programmes, in consultation with Team Lead and Associate Deans.
Manage the BIS and ISM termly advisor-student updates and approval process.
Collaborate with RO to create, maintain and update students\' individualised study plans on a semi-annual basis, ensuring all updates to the Individualised (Second) Majors are processed adequately, accurately and timely, to meet the bidding timelines.
Facilitate the appointment of thesis mentors and industry mentors (for final-year undergraduates), and the appointment of research supervisors and formation of thesis/dissertation committees (for postgraduates), as well as track the submission of student progress reports as applicable.
Manage the CIS-specific scholarships and grants, including but not limited to the BIS Merit Scholarship, ONE15 Sustainability Scholarship and Steve Tay Vision Grant.
Work with other SMU Schools and Offices to handle programme administration including applications, matriculation, course enrolment, grade processing and graduation processing for students of the BIS, ISM and postgraduate research programmes.
Maintain the BIS student academic handbooks and relevant student or faculty guides, under the direction of the Team Lead and relevant Associate Dean.
Design and organise the BIS Symposium for students starting their BIS programme and the BIS Colloquium for students graduating from the BIS programme, in consultation with the IM Committee.
Plan and manage events relevant to the BIS, ISM and PGR programmes (e.g., academic briefings, dissertation defence, PhD qualifying exams, amongst others), in collaboration with other members of the academic programme team.
Co-manage CIS student affairs and activities
Co-lead the management of student club activities.
Co-organise activities such as tea sessions between students and the College Dean, start-of-term engagement sessions and industry partner appreciation events.
Contribute to the planning and execution of University events involving CIS students (e.g., student orientation, commencement).
Student advisement
Advise students on matters relating to SMU degree curriculum, such as graduation requirements, scholarship terms and conditions, etc.
Advise students on academic operation matters relating to the Bachelor of Integrative Studies and Individualised Second Major programmes, including course bidding and enrolment, and other graduation requirements which are part of the programmes.
Contribute to the maintenance of the CIS (Undergraduate) mailbox and address queries from students, in consultation with Team Lead.
General support of College activities
Participate in university- and college-level outreach activities such as Open House, school talks, roadshows, etc.
Participate in process improvement projects, taking sectional leadership roles where applicable.
Qualifications:
A university or diploma degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in a higher education administrative role or equivalent.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students.
Excellent organisational skills, with a meticulous nature and a keen attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and work independently.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word and Excel).
Strong work ethic.
