Role Responsibilities
Background

  • Information & Cyber Security (ICS) is a critical function within Standard Chartered Bank operating under the overall purview of Transformation, Technology & Operations (TTO).
  • ICS is made up of cyber security thought leaders, who are accountable for the provision of a global set of cyber security services and products to maintain and continuously improve the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s cyber security posture in today\xe2\x80\x99s ever evolving cyber security landscape.
  • Within ICS, the Cyber Security (CS) domain protect the Bank from cyber threats by delivering effective information security technology services; managing and responding to security incidents to ensure and support the continuity and growth of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s business operations and meeting both internal and external stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 expectations across 70+ countries and territories, in which Standard Chartered operates.
Responsibilities
  • Working closely to support the Director, CISO Communications and developing productive working relationships with key stakeholders, this role will be part of a central team within ICS COO delivering communications services to ICS domains. The role\xe2\x80\x99s purpose is to drive effective communications around ICS incident response and raise awareness of security controls across the Bank.
Strategy
  • Provide leadership and oversight by setting the communications direction, strategy and deliverables for ICS incident response communications.
  • Provide strategic and tactical communications advice and support to the Director, CISO Communications; Head, Communications, TTO; as well as to the communications domain partners.
  • Proactive approach in understanding and sharing industry best practices and looking for opportunities to promote and build awareness of ICS and TTO strategic priorities.
  • Measure the success of communications using insights and analytics and adjust approach to meet organisational objectives.
  • Awareness and understanding of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s business strategy and model appropriate to the role.
Business
  • Collaborate with CISO Communications and TTO Corporate Affairs to ensure domain communications align and support broader communications priorities and processes.
  • Build awareness amongst key stakeholders around understanding the ICS incident response agenda via business relevant, jargon-free and actionable communication initiatives.
  • Develop formats, methods and styles to communicate impactful operational status updates to key stakeholders across the Bank on a regular basis (with a focus on ICS incident response).
  • Develop end-user targeted communications that raise awareness, drive engagement and inspire action around the solutions that protect the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s critical assets from various cyber threats with a focus on automation and customer journeys.
  • Proactively engage and work with internal stakeholders such as the ICS Management Team, Cyber Defence Centre, TTO Corporate Affairs, ICS domains, business users, Technology groups, ICS and IT Risk, ICS Resilience etc. to ensure communications are aligned to our internal customer needs, and that escalations and expectations are managed accordingly.

  • Awareness and understanding of ICS incident response processes.
  • Accountable to risk control owners and/or Group policy owners for the implementation of policies and control standards set by them, ensuring compliance, and operating within risk tolerance and risk appetite and building a culture of good conduct.
Risk Management
  • Identify, report, and escalate issues, risks, business intelligence to leadership.
Governance
  • Ensure that tone of voice, messaging, and behaviours are aligned with the corporate narrative when we engage and communicate internally and externally.
  • Ensure incident communications is aligned to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s ICS incident response processes.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Serve on communications related working groups and committees as needed.
  • Take on special assignments to support CISO Communications and TTO Corporate Affairs priorities as needed.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or similar.
  • We are seeking a dynamic and resourceful self-starter who can hit the ground running, and who thrives in fast paced environments.
  • 8 and more years of solid corporate communications and/or public relations experience.
  • Experience in crisis communications, issues management and/or incident response communications within a major corporate.
  • A track record in creating and developing content to support or enhance a strategy / narrative.
  • Strong emphasis on multi-tasking and ability to prioritise workload while managing multiple stakeholders including senior management across multiple locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in high-pressure environments.
  • Data-driven approach to driving business decisions.
  • A strong drive to succeed, solutions-focused and ability to execute tactically.
  • Experience in dealing with the media is a bonus.
  • Experience working in the cyber security / technology sector is a bonus.
