Job Description


Objectives of the Position

  • The role a key member of the Asia Pacific Communications (COMS) team and collaborates with a global network of Communications professional in Agricultural Solutions, and the company. The COMS community serves to strengthen, nurture, and protect the brand and reputation of BASF in agriculture.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of regional internal communications strategy that keeps employees informed, connected, and engaged.
  • Contributes to the overall strategic direction of communications in the region, and manager key communication tasks in Brand reputation tracking, Media management, and Crisis communications.
  • Strategic business partner who supports key leaders in developing effective communications for various key events, and meetings with external audiences.
Main Tasks:

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
  • Owner of the regional\'s internal communications. e.g., townhall sessions, coffee chats and video messages. Creates and implements effective employee communications programs such as leadership sessions, team meetings, employee engagement, and learning development seminars. Serves as moderator, timekeeper and/or record taker as needed.
  • Works with key functions of HR and Commercial Excellence to drive employee engagement and CX changes across the region.
  • Develops and manages key regional internal communications channels to ensure that employees receive consistent and timely messages and can share information easily and effectively. Serves as the editor of the regional COMS platforms such as Intranet, Quarterly region update, relevant news to the region.
  • Hands on responsibility for creating presentations, videos, content needed by the business. Manage and organize the regional coms content library - proactively coordinating the collection and creation of photos, videos, and other visuals, and guiding regional and country teams on their effective use.
  • Track and monitor the effectiveness of communications activities to show value to business stakeholders.
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
  • Identify opportunities to raise the profile of Agricultural Solutions in Asia Pacific and position. Company as a thought leader in the industry via creation of new formats and/or participation in industry seminars and events, media interviews, opinion articles and advertising campaigns.
  • Provision of strategic communications expertise and support to members of the senior leadership team to create and deliver compelling messages for key internal and external stakeholders across the region - including media events, key account customer meetings, industry events, and customer conferences.
  • Active member of the Agricultural Solutions communications team in Asia Pacific, participates in select global calls and contributes to regional communications programs and activities. Liaise with global, regional, and country leaders to support the needs and interests of Asia Pacific and the Agricultural Solutions business respectively.
  • Support crisis communication in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Prepare position papers, media responses as a part of issue management, and any incident/safety reactive messaging.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
  • Draft and review news releases and media pitches, prepare external communication materials in line with corporate and global one voice (incl. press releases and customer presentations), and coordinate media relations contacts for the Agricultural Solutions business across countries.
  • Develop, steer, and implement global and regional communications projects that build the reputation of company.
Requirements:
  • Minimum degree in communication, marketing, or other related field.
  • Career history of at least 12 years with a minimum of 10 years in communications of a corporate environment. Experience of working a few years in an agency or in a regional responsibility is a plus.
  • Working experience in a large multinational company with multiple stakeholders across various locations, experience in agriculture / chemical / bio-pharmaceutical industry a nice-to-have.
  • High performing, mature and independent self-starter who has no issues rolling up sleeves to work without agency support and exemplifies accountability.
  • Exceptional English language writing and editing skills - ideally as a native speaker. Ability to fluently communicate in a regional language is a plus.
  • Knowledge in communication strategy/planning, crisis communication and branding.
  • Hands-on working capabilities with content creation skills (Powerpoint, photo/video editing) and able to own the entire internal communications calendar, and self-manage projects such as monthly newsletters, quarterly executive communications and regional reports.
  • Experience working closely with senior executives and diverse cultures. Amiable personality with strong interpersonal skills to influence country and global colleagues.
  • Able to host, moderate, facilitate communication events with gusto.
