Job Purpose

Responsible to support Education & Outreach branch to manage SMRT's educational outreach programme, to cultivate, engage and educate on our operations, maintenance and service capabilities, in order to build affinity and lovability for the company

Responsibilities

Manager, Education & Outreach duties and responsibilities are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be changed/assigned from time to time.

  • This is a dynamic role which involves aspects of commuter engagement, project management and relationship management. Reporting to Senior Manager, Education & Outreach, you will plan and organise the Company's educational outreach programme to build relationship with schools, institutions, organisations and general public. The work is fulfilling, challenging and exciting.
As part of a dynamic team, you will be working in a fast-paced environment to:

Responsibilities
1) Plan and manage the SMRT Learning Journey Programme (LJP)
o Plan and run both Learning Journey (LJ) and Rail Discovery Centre (RDC) programmes to liaise with visiting schools and organisations
o Curate and refresh content for existing LJP and develop new LJP in liaison with premise owners, operations and maintenance teams
o Preparation and upkeeping of LJ and RDC tour materials
o Plan the deployment and rostering of staff, and their training, to conduct LJ and RDC tours
o Manage and handle LJ and RDC feedback and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
o Liaising with authority(s) and coordinating with internal stakeholders for safety and security clearances for the conduct of LJ and RDC tour s
o Develop and promote marketing and publicity plans
o Ensure maintenance and availability of logistics for RDC

2) Plan and manage school engagement activities

o Plan and run SMRT Adopt-A-Station (AAS) programme and liaise with MOE and schools
o Liaise with authority(s) for the conduct of AAS activities
o Liaise with schools to engage and conduct AAS outreach and training
o Support and coordinate with Ops on the various AAS activities including student ambassadors' activities, appreciation and performances at stations from schools/students

3) Plan and manage community outreach activities with Organisations and the public

o Liaise with organisations such as government authorities and Social Service Agencies to create outreach programmes and/or events
o Maintain good working relationships with authorities and partners

Qualifications & Work Experience

Qualifications and work experience include:
  • BSc degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Business or relevant field.
  • More than 5 years of experience in community relations, corporate communication and engagement or operations management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills liaising with government agencies and/or community organisations.
  • Possess ability to function at a high level in a team setting or as an individual contributor.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, proven project management ability, strong influencing skills, resourceful and proactive
