Job Description


What the role is:This role drives international engagement efforts to advance Singapore's interests on international tax matters and safeguard Singapore's interests in global developments in tax transparency.What you will be working on:In this role, you will advance Singapore's interests internationally through the formulation and review of international tax policies and tax treaties. You will be involved in the development of Singapore's strategy in response to a rapidly evolving global tax landscape, including international tax developments that are expected to have a medium/ long-term impact on Singapore. Through this, you will enhance Singapore's economic competitiveness and expand our international economic space. You will also have the opportunity to represent Singapore at international meetings, where you will engage international and regional organisations, other foreign tax jurisdictions and government officials.You will handle one or more of the following areas of work:International Tax Policy and Relations:

  • Anticipate developments in the international tax space, sense-make and perform assessments on developments that may impact Singapore to seize opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Develop policy positions and proposals on tax transparency to advance and safeguard Singapore's interests, as well as uphold Singapore's reputation as a responsible global citizen and trusted interlocutor
  • Manage Singapore's international tax engagement strategy and cultivate relationships with international counterparts to position IRAS as a leading revenue authority in the world
Tax Treaty:
  • Prepare for and participate in the negotiation of tax treaties and Mutual Agreement Procedures on tax treaty application
  • Formulate Singapore's positions in response to international tax proposals and represent Singapore at international meetings
What we are looking for:
  • A degree in Accountancy, Business, Tax or Economics is a plus
  • 2-3 years of experience in domestic or international tax, though fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical skills with a strong understanding of tax and related legal issues
  • Detailed oriented and meticulous
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Resourceful and able to work independently
  • Strong team spirit, positive attitude, and willingness to learn, experiment and innovate
