Job Description


The Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (ICAS) is the curatorial division of LASALLE College of the Arts. Situated at LASALLE\'s dynamic city campus, ICAS\'s five galleries present a programme of curated international exhibitions alongside exhibitions organised with students, academic staff and alumni.
ICAS provides curatorial expertise and resources in the areas of exhibition development, display and mediation, publishing and education, and manages the LASALLE College of the Arts Collection.

Reporting to the Director of ICAS, the Manager (Operations) will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the galleries which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead and coordinate the scheduling, logistics and resources for all galleries exhibitions.
  • Administer financial transactions which include processing of invoices, fees, reimbursements and procurement management.
  • Assist in the planning, monitoring and tracking of the Division\'s budget.
  • Manage the procurement process including record-keeping.
  • Provide support in business and management reporting and prepare funding and sponsorship applications and acquittals.
  • Work with the exhibitions team on transportation, unpacking and packing of works of art and other related materials, as well as plan and undertake risk management processes for exhibitions and events.
  • Coordinate freight (packing and shipping) and associated insurance for works of art on loan and works held in the LASALLE College of the Arts Collection.
  • Prepare programme-related artist and curator travel arrangements.
  • Supervise visitor service officers to ensure work is conducted professionally and in compliance with general health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Work with the Division of Facilities to ensure galleries and adjacent public areas are safe, secure and maintained to a high standard of presentation at all times.
  • Oversee and maintain library materials including catalogues and archives held in the office and technical store, and ensure inventories are up to date.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends and innovations in arts management, arts education, audience development, sponsorship and the gallery sector.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree from an established university in arts management or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in arts management of which at least five years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role in an established organisation.
  • Experience in liaising with multiple stakeholders including international artists and specialist contractors to produce large-scale arts projects and exhibitions.
  • Experience in liaising with freight and customs agents to safely and efficiently transport works of art internationally.
  • Strong knowledge in international museum best practices in art handling and management.
  • Good knowledge of emerging trends and innovations in work practices and facilities relevant to exhibitions, collections and the gallery sector.
  • Strong knowledge of grant writing and business report writing.
  • Positive work attitude, good interpersonal skills and able to work well collaboratively at all levels.
  • Meticulous, organised and able to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective written and spoken communications skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
