The rapidly expanding Regional Credit Risk department at GrabFin (Financial Services segment) develops and launches credit products across multiple countries in SouthEast Asia.
The position is within the core credit risk team that drives the credit risk strategy of Grabs Buy-Now-Pay-Later and consumer loan portfolios. The role is expected to own and play a critical role in building the product from scratch and in scaling the business across markets, this includes developing the backend (Credit Decision engine), the front-end (Limit Management), risk strategies via data science models, and creating a local setup in each country with scalable risk management and portfolio management solutions.
The Lending team is made up of a mix of professionals from risk management, product, design, consultants and software professionals, providing lots of opportunity to share knowledge and learnings across functions.
Get to know the Role
The Manager for Regional Credit Risk in consumer lending is responsible for managing, overseeing, and driving credit risk management strategies, policies, and procedures. This role offers a unique opportunity for rapid professional growth, encompassing all aspects of the credit risk framework, from data integrity to system reporting. The individual will be involved in designing underwriting and account management strategies for the consumer portfolio and will work closely with the vertical/ functional heads, country risk teams, and other functional stakeholders to execute them.
The Day-to-Day Activities
The role will be responsible for combining advanced analytics with strategic foresight to optimize our credit risk strategy, operations, ensuring sustainable growth and steadfast compliance in a dynamic financial landscape
Optimize underwriting and portfolio management risk policies through use of analytics and strategies for consumers and driver portfolios.
Understand, implement, and promote best lending practices in the across 6 different markets, ensuring successful acquisition and portfolio management strategies are integrated.
Continuously monitor portfolio risk reports, leveraging them to pinpoint and capitalize on opportunities for enhancing credit program efficiency.
Regularly provide ad-hoc credit risk evaluations and advisory to Regional teams, Group Risk Head, and other key stakeholders.
Assist in product and credit program development, reviewing and estimating risk parameters, product pricing, structure, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Drive business agenda with potential partners, ensuring optimal risk and profitability economics.
The Must-Haves
A Masters/Bachelors degree in a related domain, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics.
Minimum of 7+ years in roles such as Credit Underwriting, MIS Reporting, Credit Policy, or Credit Analytics; preferably with managerial experience of at least 1+ year.
Strong analytical skills with a capacity to collect, organize, and analyze vast amounts of data with meticulous attention to detail.
Comprehensive understanding of the retail banking customer credit life cycle, including origination and portfolio management; with prior experience in consumer lending (preferably credit cards/ personal loans/ Buy now pay later).
Self-driven, independent learner with a keen interest in team collaboration.
Detail-oriented and efficient time manager who thrives in a rapidly changing and dynamic working environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication.
Prior hands-on experience with Python will be a distinct advantage.
The Nice-to-Haves
Advanced technical expertise concerning credit risk models, database management, and segmentation techniques.
Proficiency in English.
