About the role

As the Manager, Technical Marketing Minerals, and product expert, you lead by example a team of product specialists in their respective fields. As part of the commercial organization, you guide the team to deliver the value differentiators such as customer supports and market development activities through an efficient management of team resources to achieve optimal results. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional focusing on integrating technical marketing and minerals product development with key customers while promoting Rio Tinto value proposition across the industry. The Manager will work with other technical marketing colleagues across multi-materials end-user segments and look for identifying synergies. The leader will identify and deploy best practices in technical support, reporting and product quality by closely collaborating with the sales & marketing teams, operations, R&D and senior leaders.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technical Marketing, you will be:
  • Leading a team of experts in minerals, primarily boron and derivatives.
  • Serving as the leader for borates, you will manage a team of subject matter expert in biocides, glass, agriculture, fire retardancy, construction/infrastructure, and bi-products.
  • Lead and participate the innovation program, technical and market development project pipeline, and stage-gate process for driving timely decision making on key projects.
  • Manage a suite of outside subject matter experts providing consulting support to the company on technical matter.
  • Work with key target customers in qualifying products, processes and/or innovation deployment and provide technical expertise differentiating our business from competitors.
  • Provide effective and timely technical support to customers, distributors, sales and other internal departments to address customers\xe2\x80\x99 queries and/or issues in close collaboration with the operation and sales teams.
  • Identify customer and market requirements and recommend or develop solutions to grow our business.
  • Develop strong relationships with key influencers at specifiers, industry associations, academia and external development partners.
  • Navigate regulatory develops in biocide and agriculture markets.
  • Understand IP development methods associated with innovation and product protection.
  • Work as one team with the strategy, market development, sales, operations, finance, product stewardship, R&D, customer service, quality, and logistics in the Metals & Minerals matrix organization.
About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry or Equivalent is required.
  • 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in Minerals and/or technical marketing with end-user engagement.
  • Knowledge of borates, other industrial minerals, and applications of these products is a plus.
  • Experiences at aligning product development with R&D pipeline.
  • Experience in product compliance and stewardship.
  • Product development and technical support experience.
  • Project management and market development of projects/markets.
  • Ability and record at developing relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen commensurate with role requirements.
  • Demonstrate a self-driven attitude and open-minded genuine curiosity towards being the voice of Rio Tinto in the industry through technical advocacy.
  • Leadership competencies, presentation skills and effective communication through various stakeholders.
  • Assure efficient and simple technical communication between customers and operations to identify areas of improvement / development.
  • Proven abilities in operating successfully in a matrix organization with stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 engagement.
  • Proficient and well-organized working skills with excellent interpersonal and judgement skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
