is responsible for developing company Safety Management System (SMS) and its continuous improvement, ensure company Safety Management System (SMS), Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental (QHSSE) and Ethics polices are in accordance with all relevant international rules and regulations. The role is responsible to standardize & harmonize the reporting and processes, identify the risk and propose the safety action plan with the relevant departments and teams.
The role is also responsible to prepare the periodical QHSSE reports, work with the proposed safety alerts, and company directive circulars for its publication.
This position plays a pivotal role in coordinating closely with the Marine department, Technical department, Superintendents and operation team to maintaining safety standards and continuous improvement.
Job Requirement
Main tasks and responsibilitiesDevelop, Implement and harmonize company Safety Management System (SMS), QHSSE policies:
o SMS development & review
o Risk assessment review
o QHSSE reports...Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis for safety, risk identification & prevention and ensure its efficiency
Follow, maintain and continuously improve global Safety Management System (SMS):
o SMS structure and organisation
o Company directive circulars
o SMS associated documents
o ISPS documentations
o Dedicated softwareWork closely with Marine Safety Investigator, analyse incident, propose, record and follow corrective actions and recommendations for its effectiveness
Organize the annual company management review
Monitor the Quality, Health Security, Safety, Environmental regulatory and work with DPA, CSO for proposing the action plan
Initial and be responsible of various committees with dedicated department to improve SMS, Be the business product owner for QHSSE software modules and assist for all requests internal or external
Identify training requirements, encourage the team to improve their knowledge, skills and training
Ensure trainings of shore and ship staff for QHSSE software modules, ISM and Marine regulations and standards
Participate in company internal and external audits
Contribute to the improvement and promotion of safety culture
Develop and participate for digitalisation process, simplify, harmonise and update processes
Propose KPI and prepare reporting requested by other department, customers and third parties
Assist your manager in various subjects related to QHSSE matters, control & monitor QSSE Marine performances, alerts or deviations
Qualifications & Experience requirements
8-10 years of experience in Maritime, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Sailing experiences are welcomed, especially Master Mariner, Class 1 / 2 marine engineer.
ISM and ISO internal auditor certificates Solid understanding of ISM code, MLC & ISPS, and other IMO conventions, the ship management and safety management system, internal and external audits.
Hands-on experience with ship management software especially QHSSE, PMS modules.
Experience in preparing reports, newsletters etc.
Exposure to root cause analysis, incident investigation, process management.
Exposure to ISO standards of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 is preferred.
