Global Maritime Security Assessment Team (GMSAT) is responsible for delivering Maritime Security Assessment and Assurance for all downstream maritime assets engaged in the transportation of Shell cargo on the water. The Team operates globally with representation in UK, Singapore, and West Africa. The Team provides an overview and threat assessment of the current identified High-Risk Areas (HRA\xe2\x80\x99s) in the Indian Ocean, Asia-Pacific and West Africa. The Team also monitors activity globally and collaborates with corporate security in assessing new, developing, or existing risks.

GMSAT supports Shipping and Trading in operating safely, efficiently and securely by effective management of security risks; preventing harm to people, assets and the environment (Goal Zero); enabling business value; and providing SME support to the organization when responding to maritime security incidents.

The role of the Maritime Security Assessor (Singapore) is to primarily support the Maritime Security Advisor (Singapore) in managing the maritime security support to Shell Trading and Supply businesses, ship managers and vessels on Shell charter in the Asia-Pacific Region. This role will also maintain an overview of all vessels (group managed, period charter, voyage charter and space charter) engaged on Shell business operating in their specific region.

What\xe2\x80\x99s the role?

Accountabilities:

Managing the implementation of Best Management Practice (BMP) compliance procedures and processes within their specific region to ensure company and industry policies, standards and initiatives for maritime security are complied with.

Supporting the Maritime Security Advisor in security assessment, investigations, case studies, Knowledge Management, information sharing and engagement with stakeholders as and when required.

Day-to-day management and maintenance of the GMSAT To-Do-List in the Global Maritime Assurance System (GMAS), which includes vetting the security clearances of all vessels engaged on or proposed for Shell business transiting or operating in the Asia Pacific HRA. Conducting onboard security management reviews and providing security advice when required.

Oversight and initiation of BMP compliance inspections and appointment of GMSAT inspectors to conduct the inspection. Review of security inspection reports submitted by the assigned inspector. Constantly review existing vessel security clearances to improve efficiency of inspections and effectiveness of vessel security clearance process.

Provide SME advice on the maritime security situation and vessel security measures to vessel Technical Managers / Company Security Officers of chartered vessels that transit the high-risk area. Manage and deliver the relevant security information to vessels on Shell business, including the provision of intelligence update briefings to vessels prior to voyage departure.

Supporting the Maritime Security Advisor to manage and report maritime incidents, trends, and analysis to the Corporate Security Managers in AP region and conduct maritime security-related investigations and report when required.

Supporting the Maritime Security Advisor on the review and management of the security inspection protocols as and when necessary.

Conduct BMP compliance inspections for unarmed chartered vessels engaged on Shell group business when required to ensure their compliance with Industry and GMSAT requirements.

Provide support to GMSAT globally Including sharing experience of Shipping Operations.

Maintenance of the equipment under the Maritime Security, APAC team.

This role would require 10% of travelling.

What we need from you

We hope to see the following in your CV:

Have an understanding of Maritime Security procedures, process & protocols and their implementation.

Deck or Engine Officers (3rd or 2nd) with more than 5 years of relevant experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Experience in Shipping, Oil & Gas, New Energy industries would be very advantageous.

Preferably possess experience in Merchant Vessel Tanker Operations.

These include thorough knowledge of Oil/LNG Shipping Operations and Ship/Shore Interface Management.

Must have good analytical and presentation skills.

Have knowledge of and ability to manage HSSE Risks effectively.

Work independently with minimal supervision, lead a small team when required, be self-motivated, manage conflicting priorities and remain rational, composed, and professional at all times.

Must be a team player with developed interpersonal and strong communication (oral and written) skills to interface with other disciplines and external stakeholders.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Fluency in English and able to report effectively. Additional languages are an advantage.
