Job Opening: Marketing & Event Coordinator - Chinese Bookstore

Location: Bras Basah Complex, Singapore


Employment Type: Full-time

Salary: $2,600 - $2,800/month

About Us

We are a Chinese bookstore located in Bras Basah Complex, Singapore's iconic book and cultural hub, serving readers, educators, and cultural enthusiasts. Surrounded by art schools, museums, and libraries, our store offers a curated selection of Chinese-language books, cultural products, and literary events for both locals and institutions. We're expanding our outreach and looking for a passionate, bilingual team member to join us.

Key Responsibilities:

Promote selected books and curated reading sets to school teachers and educators. Build and maintain a school contact database and assist with educator outreach. Create bilingual content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Xiaohongshu). Design visuals using Canva for online/offline promotions. Update online store listings and promotional banners. Take event photos or videos for digital sharing. Assist in planning and coordinating in-store events, author talks, and school book fairs. Help with logistics, packing, book display, and setup. Provide on-site support during events (registration, AV setup, customer service). Handle post-event social media recaps and data reporting.

Ideal Candidate:

Bilingual in English and Mandarin (spoken and written). Passionate about Chinese books, education, and cultural outreach. Comfortable working in a retail setting and supporting in-store events. 1-2 years' experience in marketing, events, education or related admin roles. Familiar with Canva, social media, and Microsoft/Google tools. Good coordination and communication skills.

Ideal Qualifications:

Minimum: Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Chinese Studies, or related field. Experience in education, bookstores, or event planning is a plus. Comfortable with Shopify, Mailchimp, or event platforms (e.g. Eventbrite). Able to work weekends and public holidays for events or fairs.
