Job Summary:

The Material Coordinator is responsible for preparation, planning, receiving, inventorying, accepting, accounting and reporting of materials related to assigned site project, in compliance with safety, time schedule, and satisfactory quality. Will report discrepancies for incoming project designated material. Responsible for locally procuring material in accordance with company procurement guidance while ensuring needed supplies and consumables are readily available on hand when needed to meet project demands

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement Site Material Handling execution and procedures for assigned site project
  • Receive, inspect, control and manage all materials and equipment from arrival at site to handover to GE construction disciplines and/or related subcontractors and report any issues or damages.
  • Verify against master shipping list of materials that all boxes sent by GE and its suppliers have been received at site.
  • Understand and comply GE\xe2\x80\x99s shipping documents, markings, packaging, and storage requirements.
  • Implementation of preservation procedures and check proper storage conditions as per equipment\xe2\x80\x99s recommendation and in accordance with GE specifications and industry standards
  • Receive, inspect, control and manage all materials and equipment from arrival at site to handover to GE construction disciplines and/or related subcontractors and report any issues or damages.
  • Procure local supplies and consumables as directed by project management and in accordance with company directives.
  • Generate reports on long and short-term storage status.
  • Train other local nationals on proper storage procedures and material management practices.
  • Help recommend customer for the readiness of type of storage areas required for incoming cargo.
  • Visual inspection of cargo upon arrival of cargo at the project site.
  • Recommendation of proper unloading and storage method use for different modules and proper stacking of cargo in accordance with directives
  • Participate in Open Case Inspections (OCI\xe2\x80\x99s)
  • Provide detail packing list as required for OCI\'s.
  • Track material from vendors to the project site, if applicable
  • Track material from port and/or airport to project site, if applicable
  • Contract insurance surveyors for damage assessments and tracking damage claims with insurance company
  • Coordinate with HQ team for proper cargo handling along with shipping paper works required at POI for custom clearance and for any further details required by any local authorities.
  • Manage any temporary import of tools and for any temporary export of equipment for any refurbishing requirements
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
  • Travel may be required

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent years of experience in a sourcing-related role
  • 3+ years of logistics planning and execution experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Able to connect and communicate across all level of site personnel and internal colleagues/stakeholders.
  • English proficiency required
Desired Characteristics:
  • Proven experience as Materials Manager
  • Knowledge of \xe2\x80\x9cbest practices\xe2\x80\x9d to set up site records as they pertain to GE\xe2\x80\x99s on-site receipt, issue, and storage of MSD, and BOP material.
  • Basic knowledge of material handling, loading, moving, and rigging of MSD, and BOP material.
  • Familiar with supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Financial skills including cost modeling, analysis, and forecasting
  • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Good analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Good technical writing, documentation, and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to contribute in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
