Job Description

A Mechanical Engineering Technician assists engineers in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery. The role involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and ensuring all mechanical systems run safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering standards and specifications.





Key Responsibilities:





Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., pumps, compressors, HVAC, piping, hydraulic systems).





Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems.





Troubleshoot mechanical faults, diagnose causes, and carry out repairs or part replacements.





Conduct inspection and performance checks to ensure equipment reliability.





Support engineers in mechanical system design, modification, and improvement.





Operate and monitor equipment according to safety and operational procedures.





Record maintenance data, test results, and service reports.





Assist with alignment, calibration, and balancing of mechanical equipment.





Follow workplace safety, health, and environmental regulations.





Collaborate with other technical teams (electrical, HVAC, production, etc.) during projects or maintenance activities.





Requirements:





Minimum Education:





NTC / NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.





Certifications (Preferred):





CoreTrade - Mechanical Works or Certificate of Trade Test (CTT).





Apply Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) in Construction Sites (CSOC).





Experience:





2-3 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, installation, or production machinery operation.





Knowledge:





Familiar with mechanical systems, piping layouts, pumps, motors, bearings, valves, and rotating equipment.





Skills:





Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.





Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.





Skilled in diagnosing mechanical faults and performing repairs.





Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers).





Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.





Understanding of lubrication, alignment, and vibration principles.





Familiar with preventive maintenance scheduling and reporting.





Team player with good communication skills.





Attention to detail, safety-conscious, and physically fit for fieldwork.





Basic computer literacy for maintenance documentation and reports.
