Job Description

Ember Research is embarking on an exciting phase with the creation of a research team in Singapore. This pioneer team has the critical mandate to research and develop temperature control technologies of novel materials, thermodynamics, sensors, connectivity, charging, manufacturing processes (the list goes on!), to enable solutions for the next generation of Ember products. The role offers the unique opportunity to be part of a pioneer research team to develop novel electro-mechanical assemblies, proof of principle rigs, test setups, and support the team in electrical and control system projects. As a critical peg in the Ember SG research team, the role will determine, setup, manage and own the research lab infrastructure. With a can-do and innovative mindset, you will create solutions and be the platform to build research and technology projects. Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the research team to develop and build electro-mechanical assemblies
• Co-develop test requirements, design and build test rigs for mechanical/electrical verification
• Build proof of principle rigs to demonstrate concept opportunities and feasibility
• Support the team for electrical and control system projects
• Develop Ember research and prototyping requirements, setup up and manage research and prototyping labs
• Ensure lab operations comply to health and safety procedures and standards
• Develop and contribute to the Technology Readiness Framework (T-projects)
• Perform other job-related tasks as required

Requirements:

• A first degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or equivalent (other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered).
• Experience writing algorithms for system processing
• Understanding of electronics systems
• Experience with test rig development and optimization
• Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies design
• CAD integration and hands on build experience
• Ability to design experiments, build and test prototypes
• Good understanding of engineering fields of electrical, electronics and manufacturing technologies
• Experience in experimental techniques, problem solving methodologies (example, Six Sigma), statistical analysis, failure analysis methodologies, FMEA techniques
• Collaborative, team player and will communicate honest and difficult messages in the interest of Ember
• Ability to be available for calls/meetings in other time zones outside of normal business hours
• EHS experience and certification is desirable
• Experience with lab setup and operations is desirable
• Experience with LabView or similar
• PCB design experience
