Responsibilities
- Reads and evaluates cultures and sensitivities and performs biochemical tests necessary for the isolation and identification of microorganisms
- Mounts, stains, and examines smears under microscope for bacteria
- Examines smears for parasites or other irregularities in the specimen.
- Performs quality control checks of instruments, solutions, and test results against established standards.
- Performs microscopic examinations of body cells to identify abnormalities
- Performs routine laboratory procedures such as preparing slides and culturing media
- Serves as primary back-up to department supervisor.
- Inventories laboratory supplies. Cleans equipment and work areas. Disposes of contaminated materials.
- Logs patient specimens and enters test results on forms
- Responds to telephone inquiries regarding cultures. May be required to set up cultures, deliver culture reports to physicians and pick up cultures from physician's offices.
- Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statistics as directed.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Min Dip/Degree in Biomedical Sciences/Biotech Sciences/Microbiology/Pharm Tech other relevant fields
- No experience required, training will be provided
- Meticulous and have good analytical insights
- Keen interest in the healthcare industry
- Able to start work immediately
