Merchandising Planning Manager

Job Description


This is a 6 months maternity contract role. The Planning Manager will be key in driving success of shopDisney APAC by partnering with the Senior Manager Buying & Planning to drive a quarterly/annual financial strategy and assortment for categories based on detailed knowledge of business insights and analytics, trends within the marketplace and consumer segmentation. Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of key financial performance indicators, the Planning Manager evaluates the assortment and reacts to in-season performance/trends/learnings to inform & adjust future season’s assortment buy plan and inventory position. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, problem solver, results oriented and analytical with a passion for ecommerce. Key Responsibilities Business & Retail Planning:

  • In partnership with team lead, strategize & develop category financial plans to achieve growth and profitability that align with key product strategies and initiatives for shopDisney APAC
  • Own seasonal buy plans that align with grow/maintain/downtrend positioning for category, including optimal SKU count framework and refresh rates to maximize OTB, driving sku productivity, optimized sales, margins and inventory levels
  • Work hand-in-hand with Finance & Trading, with partnership from Buying to drive franchise mix, category sales and margins mix in weekly/monthly forecasting & budget planning
  • Develop, drive and present weekly trading insights from a product lens and partner with Buying & digital experience team to formulate tactical sales strategies.
  • Develop insights & recommend action plans from data analytics on traffic, conversion, keyword search and AOV key performance indicators
  • Manage and input quarterly buy plans into global range planning tool
  • Work closely with PO administration team to ensure accuracy in range plan tool for PO issuance
Inventory Management
  • Own the monthly inventory position reporting, including monthly OTB, inventory movements, overstock/understock situations.
  • Manage regional level promotions planning to help drive traffic & to drive sales for shopDisney APAC
  • Manage markdown planning to drive optimal stock turn
  • Collaborate with trading to identify pricing and liquidation opportunities
  • Manage replenishments of evergreen/flow products
Requirements Experience:
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in merchandise/business/retail planning
  • Proven experience working in branded consumer environments with an appreciation of eCommerce business is critical
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with data & numbers is critical
  • Proven track record in managing and implementing merchandising/business/retail planning for APAC region
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally
  • Proven experience in working in dynamic, cross-cultural team

  • You have strong project management skills including conceptualization, driving alignment, planning resources, supervising objectives and test plans, and deriving learnings

  • You are an excellent communicator and comfortable presenting at all levels internally and externally.
  • You are comfortable working in a start up environment, take ownership, an inventive problem-solver, and maintain a high level of accountability
  • You can collaborate well with others and thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • You are comfortable with multi-tasking and delivering to your goals as planned
