Microbiologist, Singapore

As a Microbiologist of the Quality Control Team, you will be responsible to perform microbiological analyses of in-process materials, raw materials or finished goods as required by product specification and regulatory requirements to meet food safety standards; conduct risk analysis and take appropriate actions to manage deviations; manage proper documentation and analytical processes to meet ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

You will also be responsible for applying appropriate methodology suitable for matrices specific to flavour industry and support in method development, optimisation, and validation of microbiological methods.

The Position:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine microbial analyses of in-process materials, raw materials or finished goods, with experience in PCR technique
  • Interpret test results, compare to established specifications and control limits
  • Take lead in making technical recommendations on appropriateness of data for release with consultation with QC Manager
  • Conduct risk analysis with respect to the correctness of the results and take appropriate actions as required
  • Responsible for the microbial results release
  • Manage method development/optimization/validation
  • Manage instrumentation
  • Maintaining ISO 17025 documentation work
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is adhered in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements and up-to-date
  • Support in technical management of ISO 17025
  • Support QC for any rejections/deviations related to quality and food safety (micro)
  • Support QC to ensure non-conformance of Raw Materials and Finished Goods are raised timely and followed up for closure
  • Support in investigation for any food safety-micro related complaint
  • Prepare CAPA report
  • To assist other tasks when necessary
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Degree in Microbiology with around 5 years of working experience or Master with relevant microbiological knowledge
  • Flavor and Fragrance laboratory and microbiology experience is an added advantage
  • Good knowledge in microbiology and method development/validation
  • Proven hands-on Experience in microbiology testing methods and equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Basic chemistry knowledge of chemical properties
  • Good knowledge with respect to production process and relevant deviation
  • Good understanding and knowledge on country and regional regulation
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Able to manage ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation process and requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • Communicative and a team player
