Program Overview: The Middle School years are one of exploration and experimentation with activities that can become positive lifelong habits. To this extent, the MS Activities office, under the direction of the MS Activities & Athletics Director, strives to offer a robust selection of clubs, intramurals and representative sports for our students. The club offerings include academic enrichment, service, arts, and sporting opportunities. Clubs typically meet once a week and are open to all levels of ability and interest. The intramural sport offerings are a structured next step' after MS students have been exposed to a multitude of physical activities in their Physical Education classes. There are a variety of sessions involving both individual and team sports which allow students to have a weekly opportunity to play a sport of their interest. The representative sport program follows the seasons of play established by the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS), with SAS participating in volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, swimming, and any other sports that ACSIS supports. Position Overview: The Middle School Activities & Athletics Director provides guidance and direction for SAS Middle School After School Activities co-curricular programs. This professional provides systemic leadership and coordination of sports and activity programs that provide SAS Middle School students with the opportunity to explore new subjects and interests as well as develop skills in already identified areas of interest. The Middle School Activities & Athletics Director is also responsible for the program planning and implementation of an Activities and Athletics program that is consistent with the SAS Core Values. Personal Skills and Attributes: Exhibits good judgment in setting priorities and making decisions Anticipates problems and exhibits timely, proactive, problem-solving Is detail oriented Reflects and seeks feedback from all stakeholders on programming and the effectiveness of strategies employed Demonstrates professional, respectful and ethical conduct and communications with all members of the school community Employs excellent spoken and written language in all communications Creates a safe, caring, and dynamic environment enabling students to build confidence and take risks Actively participates in a variety of school programs and events, student activities and/or school improvement initiatives beyond the day Familiarity with Google Suite and comfort with learning and using a variety of digital tools Displays a willingness to take risks, learn and grow Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with relevant co-curricular activities and/or athletics program leadership experience in a school setting Teaching certification and experience preferred Tasks and Duties: Activities and Intramurals Monitors quality and attendance of activities Vets and evaluates activities and intramurals Recruits and coordinates sponsors Organizes for stipend payment in coordination with Human Resources Organizes equipment and facilities bookings as needed Arranges busing for off-campus excursions Solicits feedback from all stakeholders on the efficacy of programming Representative Sports Recruits and coordinates coaches Organizes for stipend payment in coordination with Human Resources Coordinates and supports coaches during tryouts Organizes supervision, equipment, uniforms, rosters, facility bookings, and travel to other schools Books and arranges payment of officials Organizes ACSIS leagues as required Organizes and host tournaments at SAS Represents SAS by serving on the ACSIS Committee and attending ACSIS meetings Solicits feedback from all stakeholders on the efficacy of programming Provides support to overall interscholastic EAA program by supporting evening, weekend and international events Communication and Collaboration Collaborate with MS Leadership Team and other members of the P-12 Athletics and Activities Professional Learning Community to develop and/or implement quality athletic, activity and performance experiences Participates effectively in the formulation, improvement and implementation of the school's activity, athletic and performance programs Promotes teamwork and high morale among coaches, sponsors and directors Collaborates effectively with others to support the school mission and philosophy of the activity, athletic and performance program Initiates proactive communication with school leaders, participants/athletes, parents and sponsors/coaches/directors around: Program offerings Timing of activities and athletic events Administrative Responsibilities Facilitates and promotes responsible budget and resource management Tracks and supervises faculty co-curricular contributions Collaborates with Dean of Student Life in monitoring and developing program Directs and evaluates support staff Maintains a current version of the SAS MS Coach's Handbook in line with the school beliefs Works with Health and Safety Officer on any overseas MS student trips Other duties as assigned
