About this role
The Quality Engineer ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and internal quality standards within the assigned operational cell. This role supports operational excellence by driving quality improvements, leading investigations, and proactively managing risks to prevent defects and quality escapes. The Quality Engineer collaborates with Operations, Engineering, Planning, and the central Quality team to enhance process robustness, ensure first-time-right outcomes, and embed a Zero Defects culture.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with EASA Part 145, CAAS, and other applicable regulations.
Provide quality oversight on production processes, ensuring adherence to approved data, work instructions, and process controls.
Support certification and documentation processes, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Defect Prevention & Continuous Improvement
Lead non-conformance investigations, driving structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, Ishikawa, etc.).
Facilitate Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) processes, ensuring corrective actions are robust and sustainable.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify recurring defects and implement proactive solutions.
Process & Risk Management
Support the deployment of risk-based thinking in quality assurance activities, aligning with the Zero Defects Strategy.
Conduct Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and support risk assessments for process changes.
Monitor Key Quality Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Work with Operations to implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions for quality-critical processes.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Culture
Promote a Just Culture and Human Factors integration in problem-solving and process improvements.
Support the Quality Escapes Prevention Programme, ensuring lessons learned are effectively shared and applied.
Train and mentor operational teams on quality standards, defect prevention, and best practices.
Participate in Lean and Six Sigma projects aimed at improving process efficiency and reducing waste.
Customer & Supplier Quality Engagement
Act as the primary quality interface between the operational cell and customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
Participate in customer quality reviews and product performance meetings, ensuring customer expectations are met.
Support supplier quality investigations related to non-conforming materials or outsourced processes.
Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Quality, or related field
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within an aerospace MRO environment.
Knowledge of CAAS, EASA Part 145 and AS9110 requirements.
Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8D, and Corrective Action methodologies.
Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans.
Hands-on experience in leading investigations, CAPA implementation, and defect prevention.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification would be an advantage.
Exposure to Human Factors and Just Culture frameworks in aviation maintenance.
