Providing patient comfort by:
Keeping patient's room clean and organized
answering patients' call lights and requests
reporting observations of the patient to nursing staff
Documents actions by completing forms (i.e. vital sign monitoring sheet, TPR sheet, I and O monitoring sheet, IV fluid sheet, medication sheet, weight monitoring sheet) and nurse's notes (countersigned by NOD).
Follows nurse instructions to perform procedures, including but not limited to:
IVF regulation, change and discontinuation
oral suctioning
CBG monitoring
applying simple, non-sterile dressings, ice packs, and heat treatments;
applying restraints on the order of a physician
Collect specimens when ordered. Urine, sputum or stool specimens must be collected in proper containers, labeled with patient's information and taken to the laboratory.
Assist Nursing Staff and ROD in performing procedures including but not limited to:
Urinary catheter insertion
NGT insertion
Peripheral IV insertion
Assist nurse with admitting, transferring and discharging patients.
Assist nurse in encoding Pharmacy and CSSD items and other procedural request such as laboratory, x-ray, nursing unit direct charges, etc.
Reporting to Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse for any pertinent observation on the patient's condition.
Utilize interaction process with patients and family members creating therapeutic environment to alleviate anxiety and fear.
Practices and monitors recommended infection control measures.
Utilizes terminal and concurrent disinfection and isolation techniques to prevent spread of infection.
Provides care in non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient and family diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
Acts as patient advocate by supporting the basic rights, values and beliefs of the patient.Other Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains confidentiality in relation to all clients, healthcare staff and documentation.
Appearance is professional and complies with agency dress code.
Serves and protects the hospital by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures.
Maintains and enhances skill through attending appropriate staff development training.
Comply with all safety and health regulations.
Qualification/s
Graduate of Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
