What the role is:The Singapore Herbarium (SING), located in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, is the 2nd largest in SE Asia. It is holding approximately 800,000 plant specimens actively used for research by local as well as international researchers.We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is passionate about plant research and conservation, and curation of natural history collections of national and international importance, to join our team of like-minded colleagues in the Research & Conservation branch.What you will be working on:You will also handle basic collection curation-related processes that includes the constant use of a ladder to retrieve and shelve the specimens stored at above eye level, and the preparation of specimens for mounting and the preparation of the collections for the upcoming digitisation project, and assist in data quality checking of digitised specimens.You will assist with collection and processing of herbarium vouchers and spirit specimens, and DNA sample collection mainly form within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Occasionally, you may be requested to join local field surveys.Other ad-hoc tasks will include curation of DNA sample database and collation of data on type specimens, and any other duties as required.What we are looking for:
