About Outward Bound Singapore OBS, a division of the National Youth Council (NYC), is part of a worldwide adventure-based learning network in more than 30 countries. We are recognised as a leader in outdoor education and have impacted the lives of more than 500,000 youths over the past 50 years. We do not merely impart outdoor skills, but also inspire youths to start a journey of self-discovery and build confidence and resilience for a lifetime. Our instructors are carefully handpicked for their positive mindset, affinity for outdoors and passion for youth development. As we continue to expand, we are looking for likeminded people with the same passion to be part of OBS.What you will be working on:Shortlisted candidates will be invited for: 1. Instructor Selection Process (ISP) Briefing There is a compulsory briefing session for all potential candidates to learn more about OBS and ISP. You will also get to know the OBS team and have your questions answered through the session. Details of next ISP Briefing: 24 April 2024 (Wednesday), 7.30pm - 9.30pm 2. 3D2N ISP Your very own mini outdoor expedition to find out if you have what it takes to become an OBS Instructor. You will go through mentally and physically challenging but rewarding activities over 72 hours. By applying for this ISP, you will need to fully commit over the entire ISP weekend. Details of next ISP: 17 - 19 May 2024 3. Interview This is the final stage of becoming a Trainee Instructor. Bring your best self for a comfortable chat with the OBS leaders to find out if there is a good match in terms of job expectations and career path. Details of interview: 23 or 24 May 2024 (TBC)What we are looking for:Job Requirements: \xe2\x80\xa2 Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident only; \xe2\x80\xa2 Relevant experience in outdoor education will be advantageous; \xe2\x80\xa2 Passion for engaging and developing the youths; \xe2\x80\xa2 Resilient to work under pressure, resourceful and ability to adapt; \xe2\x80\xa2 Good communication skills and ability to work well with others. Condition(s) of Concern: For safety considerations, your application to participate in the 3D2N ISP may be rejected if you have any of the following medical/physical condition(s): \xe2\x80\xa2 Cardiac conditions e.g. ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, congenital heart conditions \xe2\x80\xa2 Respiratory conditions e.g. exercise-induced asthma \xe2\x80\xa2 Seizure (with history of episode/medication within last 2 years) \xe2\x80\xa2 History of anaphylaxis (due to environmental/food allergens) \xe2\x80\xa2 Any conditions that may cause: a. Inability to perform strenuous/physically demanding activities and movements for prolonged periods of time (e.g. carry loads of 15 - 20 kgs for 5 - 6 hours a day); b. Inability to see colours or see in the dark/night; c. Inability to conduct outdoor activities and independently supervise the safety of minors; and/or d.
