Part-time Lecturer in Art History
The School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Part-time Lecturer in Art History. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate course commencing in January 2023.
The successful candidate will have a broad background in Global Art History, and will be able to teach one of the following 13-week upper-division undergraduate courses:
(A) An intermediary level course that introduces the global history of art exhibitions from its origin to the present. This seminar confers particular attention to how curatorial and artistic practices have influenced exhibitions in the context of museums and biennials, exposing students to the practice of exhibitions from a historical and theoretical perspective.
(B) An intermediary level course that focuses on visual practices arising from encounters between Eastern and Western cultures, especially during the age of colonialism (mid-fifteenth century to the late nineteenth century). It questions the monolithic binaries of "East" and "West" by looking at selected works of art in different media across the Indian Ocean World. As you look, read, and write, you will consider ways in which the multiple encounters between East and West come together to produce what has now come to be called "global art histories."
Successful candidates will have a Masters and/or PhD in Art History, curatorial experience in the region, and undergraduate teaching experience.
