The job holder assists doctors to provide care for patients in EMD Consultation RoomThe job-holder will undertake tasks assigned and supervised by registered nursesand enrolled nurses.
Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)2.1.1 Prepare and assist doctors in the consultation room2.1.2 Assist doctors, registered nurses and enrolled nurses in preparing patient physically for procedures and after procedures\xc2\x95 Prepare trolleys and requisites for basic and intermediate procedures intravenous cannulation, venepuncture, blood culture, urinary catheterization, dressings, toilet and suturing, incisional and drainage and digital block.2.1.3 Admit conscious patients with stable condition\xc2\x95 Make correct entry into bed request form\xc2\x95 Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure before admission to ward2.1.4 Perform discharges of patient\xc2\x95 Use two patient identifier before discharge patient\xc2\x95 Obtain follow-up appointment for patient\xc2\x95 Provide relevant discharge advice\xc2\x95 Check all documents are correct before giving to patient\xc2\x95 Remove IV plug before patient leaves the hospital2.1.5 Assist the registered nurses in providing basic care planned for patients\xc2\x95 Change bed linen and make up beds\xc2\x95 Dress and assist with personal hygiene of patients\xc2\x95 Attend to skin care of patients with stable conditions\xc2\x95 Assist with lifting, moving and transporting patients2.1.6 Assist registered nurses in observing and reporting patient\'s condition and progress\xc2\x95 Obtain, record and report temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure ofadult patients with stable condition.\xc2\x95 Observe general condition of patients and report all observations (usual andunusual) to the nurse-in-charge2.1.7 Give and remove / assist to give / remove bedpans and urinals to patients2.1.8 Help registered nurses carry out simple procedures related to treatment under supervision\xc2\x95 Apply warm/cold compress and carry out tepid sponging\xc2\x95 Remove IV plugs / peripheral IV cannula2.1.9 Maintain a clean and safe working environment2.1.10 Assist with general duties
\xc2\x95 Answer call bells and give assistance within constraint of his/her responsibilities
\xc2\x95 Perform inventory check of equipment
2.1.11 Assist the Registered Nurses in performing diagnostic monitoring
\xc2\x95 Perform QC test of glucometer and urisys machine
\xc2\x95 Perform peripheral blood glucose test by finger prick, urinalysis and urine pregnancy test
\xc2\x95 Perform 12 leads ECG
\xc2\x95 Help to observe for change in patient\'s condition
\xc2\x95 Report change in patient\'s condition to Registered Nurse
\xc2\x95 Perform cardiac pulmonary resuscitation
2.2 Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)2.2.1 Perform other duties assigned by Nurse Manager / Senior Nurse Manager2.2.2 Participate in service quality activities2.2.3 Attend in-service lectures and courses3. Job Specification/Requirements3.1 At least GCE \'O\' level education3.2 Practical knowledge of hospital operations is an added advantage3.3 Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office)3.4 Possess good interpersonal and communication skills3.5 Display compassion, a positive and caring attitude towards patients, internal and external clients.
