The Engineering Division conducts research and provides engineering services to the whole of DSO in the areas of digital and mixed- signal electronics/microelectronics, radio frequency (RF), electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), antennas, as well as mechanical and thermal engineering.

Photonics Engineer

In this role, you will: 1. Design and Development:

a) Develop and design photonic devices and systems, including lasers, modulators, amplifiers, harmonic generators and detectors

b) Utilize software tools for simulating and modeling photonic devices, circuits and subsystems

c) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate photonic components into larger systems.



2. Prototyping and Testing:

a) Build, assemble and test prototypes to ensure functionality and performance specifications are met.

b) Conduct experiments to validate design criteria and improve device performance.

c) Analyze test results and troubleshoot issues.



3. Research and Innovation:

a) Stay up to date with the latest advancements in photonics technology.

b) Conduct research to develop new photonic technologies and applications.

c) Propose new project ideas and present them to the stake holders.



4. Documentation and Reporting:

a) Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design approach, tasks, specifications, test reports, and future tasks.

b) Maintain accurate records of all development and testing activities.

c) Report progress and project status to management and stakeholders.



5. Maintenance and Support:

a) Provide technical support and expertise on photonics related enquiry from other departments.

b) Assist in the maintenance and calibration of photonic equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS




Degree/Master/PHD in Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Electronic & Computer Engineering/Electronic Engineering/Photonics

Proficiency in using CAE tools for simulation and layout design

Experience in using optical and electrical characterization tools

Strong understanding in photonic device such as modulator, detector, waveguide, PIC and integrated optics

Experience in working on photonics related project or development#
