Technical Responsibilities Designs Direct Fired Heaters and Waste Heat Recovery Units (WHRUs) Conducts design using Plant 3D and AutoCAD computer aided design software Prepares complete Project documents for review and approval Formulates and solves technical problems with commercial considerationManagerial Responsibilities Assigns tasks to and co-ordinates with Junior Designers and administrative staff Plans and co-ordinates detailed aspects of the design work Assists with proposals to provide professional design servicesKey Responsibilities Ensures all modelling and draughting activities are completed within allocated schedule and budgeted hours. Efficiently and effectively manages multiple tasks independently and in a multi-disciplinary team. Communicates with Senior Designers daily and seeks guidance to prevent undue delay and ensure success of the project Utilises Plant 3D and AutoCAD computer aided design (CAD) software. Performs 3D modelling activities and maintains clash free models. Prepares 2D CAD drawings complete with Bill of Material (BOM) as directed. Adheres to International Codes of Practice and industry standards Be responsible for technical correctness of own and others Designers' deliverables. Provide necessary co-ordination and guidance to Designers and Draughters. Ensures output is completed on time, on budget, and exceeding quality standards Assists in design reviews and participate in other discipline reviews as appropriate. Ensures incorporation of all Piping-related review comments. Detailed review of drawings for scope and presentation, including checking of own and others' work for technical accuracy and adherence to company standards Adheres to and complies with design procedures and standards and provides constructive feedback for continuous improvement. Identifies potential applications for new processes and technologies to improve productivity and efficiency Trains and encourages the development of Junior Designers and Draughters as delegated. Ensures effective communication and interface between all disciplines for design and development. Participates in internal audits and investigations as required. Travels to and visits client offices to meet with technical representatives and performs site survey with Senior Designers, if required Establishes and maintains effective working relationships internally. Engages with inter-discipline community and promotes networking and knowledge sharingDirection Received Receives general direction on key objectives from Senior Designers Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems Receives direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteriaJob RequirementsExperience 5+ years professional design Member of Institution and/or professional practiceEducation Diploma in engineering from an accredited college Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issuesCommunication Skills Day-to-day working relationship with Engineering and Projects departments Interaction with staff, managers and othersGeneral Characteristics Applies comprehensive knowledge of design principles and practices Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques and procedures Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields Ability to function independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team working on multiple Projects of moderate size or portions of major Projects
