Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore\'s AI efforts.

Candidates will be expected to provide technical leadership, engage stakeholders independently, mentor junior engineers and apprentices, and contribute ideas to improve the system.

The Platforms Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining AI Singapore\'s hybrid infrastructure and platforms, integrating various technology and ensuring our ML teams can leverage the best tooling for their requirements. They will work within the Platforms Engineering Group, focusing on one of multiple Platforms teams: InfraOps, DataOps, MLOps, or Developer Experiences (DX), to improve AI/ML workflows and create integrations to on-prem and cloud infrastructures.

Duties & Responsibilities

\xe2\x97\x8f Develop, maintain, and optimise our hybrid on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including on-prem HPC/AI Cluster, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, on-prem storage, and other platforms.
\xe2\x97\x8f Build developer platforms and integrations to streamline our ML engineering teams\' utilisation of resources and tooling.
\xe2\x97\x8f Collaborate with the Platforms DX team to define requirements, design solutions, and ensure efficient development workflows.
\xe2\x97\x8f Participate in code and design reviews, and contribute to continuously improving our platforms\' performance, usability, and developer experience.
\xe2\x97\x8f Mentor AISG apprentices in Platforms projects.

Qualifications



\xe2\x97\x8f Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
\xe2\x97\x8f Excellent communication skills, including thoughtful listening skills and the ability to express complex ideas clearly and succinctly.
\xe2\x97\x8f The ability to reason about engineering issues holistically using engineering fundamentals and knowledge about architecture.
\xe2\x97\x8f A systematic approach to development and engineering, such as debugging, DevOps and MLOps practices, and agile software development.
\xe2\x97\x8f Have held at least one engineering or infrastructure position for at least five years.
\xe2\x97\x8f Proficient in at least one commonly used programming language, such as Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, Javascript, Java, C#, etc. Proficiency in Python would be preferred.
\xe2\x97\x8f Proficient in administering Linux systems.
\xe2\x97\x8f Basic proficiency and understanding of machine learning concepts, including data analysis, predictive modelling and model evaluation.
\xe2\x97\x8f Proficiency in at least one automation tool (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
\xe2\x97\x8f Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (KVM, VMWare, etc.).
\xe2\x97\x8f Familiarity with container and container orchestration technologies (Docker, Podman, Singularity, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Helm, etc.).
\xe2\x97\x8f Familiarity with public cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform
\xe2\x97\x8f Experience with deployment of applications on cloud or distributed systems.
\xe2\x97\x8f An aptitude for automated system design and implementation (automated deployments and automated testing).
