Position Purpose: Working as part of a team to ensure all investment team administration is dealt with accurately and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain a thorough knowledge of the mandates managed by the Sustainable Funds Group (SFG) team and the investment restrictions applicable to each client.
  • Enter trade orders instructed by portfolio managers and monitor their execution and impact on cash flow on a daily basis. This involves liaising closely with the portfolio managers and the Dealing Team.
  • Implement FX transactions to cover settlement of equity orders that have executed for the Stewart Investors team as well as manual instructions as and when required.
  • Monitor the cash levels of all portfolios and enter trade orders accordingly to meet the cash flow requirements of the clients, whilst keeping the portfolios in line with the model portfolio
  • Ensure the alignment of similar portfolio types whilst taking account of individual client investment restrictions. This involves documenting and monitoring any anomalies in the securities held between different clients, and keeping the portfolio manager informed of such anomalies so that action may be taken when required.
  • Ensure that the portfolios are in compliance with client investment restrictions and advise the portfolio managers where limits are being reached.
  • Co-ordinate the portfolio manager compliance sign off in relation to any client restrictions that are not coded onto Charles River and are treated as manual restrictions.
  • Work with the Investment Compliance team(s) on any compliance issues regarding client portfolios.
  • Review and co-ordinate the communication of corporate action requests to portfolio managers and ensure timely instructions to the Corporate Actions teams.
  • Co-ordinate new market opening requests made by the portfolio manager.
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure that any outstanding operational issues affecting the client’s portfolios are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the database on free floats of companies held by the client portfolios. This requires maintaining an up to date list of the securities held by the all the funds and liaising with brokers providing the free float information.
  • Monitor holding capacities and report to portfolio managers any holdings that are reaching maximum thresholds
  • Liaise with members of the Client team regarding client specific issues requiring communication with the client.

Pre-Requisites:

Experience
  • 3+ years experience of working in a portfolio implementation function at FSI or another asset manager
  • Competent with Bloomberg, Charles River, Excel and Outlook
  • Highest levels of integrity and ability to balance transparency and confidentiality when required.
  • Proven ability to develop good working relationships with the other team members as well as with all other departments within the business
  • Possesses an adaptable nature and in particular has the ability to be flexible with the scope of work required
  • Demonstrable ability to interact with people at all levels of a business, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to handle a busy schedule, remaining calm and level headed
The job holder will be expected to adopt the spirit of the ‘Hippocratic Oath’ and to demonstrate commitment to our clients.

Technical
  • Attained an industry core professional qualification for that of a practicing investment professional e.g. Investment Management Certificate (IMC), Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) - desirable
  • Numerically accurate and conscientious about quality and accuracy of work output.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
