Established in 1972, Dover Court International School in Singapore is a leading inclusive international school with British heritage, serving international families, set on a green 12-acre site about 20 minutes from the Singapore CBD. In Primary we are guided by the National Curriculum for England and the International Primary Curriculum. In Secondary we have IGCSE/GCSE, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and International BTEC qualifications. We also offer courses that focus on English, mathematics, life skills and employability through ASDAN programmes.All students are involved in a wide range of co-curricular activities, mainly run by teaching staff. Resulting in a rich and varied co-curricular offer for our students, with our school active and competitive in the local international school sports league across a number of sports. The school has an extensive programme of residential trips starting in Year 3 up to the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in Secondary.We are also members of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and are accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).Dover Court is a strong, vibrant community, where all staff are well supported with access to a range of professional learning opportunities and a commitment to professional reflection and growth.Job SummaryAn outstanding and inspirational Primary SEN Class Teacher is required to join our inclusive community, from August 2025.We seek an experienced SEN teacher with a strong knowledge and understanding of inclusive practices that support neurodiverse learners, and a commitment to professional learning, reflection and growth. They will be confident in taking responsibility for a class of 8 to 10 students who require a higher level of adaptation to facilitate their learning. They will work closely with a dedicated team of teachers and therapists to develop and adapt pedagogical approaches, including whole class therapy lessons, that support our diverse learners. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills when working in partnership with parents, staff and the children themselves.You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion, providing a safe space where our learners belong and flourish.Working closely with other specialists in the school, including therapist and the educational psychologist, you will develop and deliver a personalised curriculum for each child in your class that covers both academic and life skills aspects of learning; enabling them to achieve the best possible outcomes in our inclusive international school environment.You will promote high expectations for our students and will be an advocate for inclusion and neurodiversity across the school. You will design personalised learning activities that are aligned to our school's curriculum and in doing so create a learning culture which promotes our school values.The successful candidate will be passionate about excellence in teaching and learning and committed to their own ongoing professional development to support the best possible progress and outcomes for our students.Areas of Responsibility and Key TasksEngagement and Interaction

  • Fully support the school's Safeguarding policy and know the reporting procedures to follow in case of a Child Protection issue
  • To promote high standards of learning amongst students
  • Be involved in the organization of department aspects of special days , festivals, house
  • events, assemblies, public speaking, special focus weeks etc
  • Contribute to the provision of subject or Year Group related trips and expedition
  • Contribute to the school's CCA programme
  • Contribute to the strategic development and continuous improvement of the department
Learning and Teaching
  • Plan and deliver lessons according to the needs of the students in the class
  • Provide students with appropriate information that allows them to know where they are and what they are and what they need to do to improve
  • Provide assessment data as required for whole school reporting and tracking
  • Contact parents on academic and pastoral matters, including follow up on reports, parent conferences, Individual Learning Plans etc.
  • Liaise with other class teachers and/or Year group leaders regarding any students causing concern and contribute to the planning of interventions
  • Liaise with colleagues and parents to review and maintain an Individual Learning Plans for students
Planning and Preparation
  • Plan and prepare lessons according to the learning needs of the students
  • Attend and contribute to year group planning meetings
  • Liaise with the Pathway 2 Leader to contribute to an annual requisition of resources
Professional and Personal Development
  • Continual development through reflection on practice and the identification and implementation of professional goals
  • Play a full part in internal and external CPD opportunities including staff meeting
  • Work collaboratively with colleague and support the development of others by sharing best practice where appropriate

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Degree plus a teaching qualification
  • Good working knowledge of Neurodiversity, Universal
  • Design for Learning, inclusive education and strategies to support a diverse student population
  • Knowledge of specific SEN pedagogy
  • Excellent classroom practice
  • Proven ability to develop good personal relationships within a team
  • High level of IT competence
  • Experience of teaching students with a range of learning differences

Other
  • Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside of the UK
  • Compliance with visa requirements for working in Singapore
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. And the willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required
