What the role is:
The Solar and Grid Solutions Department of the Energy Market Authority champions solar deployment and drives the adoption of grid solutions through facilitating technology development, policy reviews and system integration, to maximise solar potential and build a flexible and resilient grid to support the energy transition.
We are looking for a Principal Analyst/Senior Principal Analyst for the Grid Solutions Branch, to lead and oversee the strategic planning, development, and execution of energy storage systems (ESS) R&D, technical testbeds and pilots. The role is important to drive the development of ESS capabilities that can make a significant impact to the Singapore Energy Transition. You must be able to combine strategic insights, energy market dynamics, technical expertise and Concept of Operations to lead impactful deployment of ESS in Singapore.

Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for ESS R&D and technical testbeds and pilots to support the Singapore Energy Transition
Evaluate the potential of ESS technologies to impact the Singapore Energy Transition. This includes assessing different ESS technologies, their safety considerations, and their potential for deployment in Singapore. This is not restricted to battery energy storage systems, and will also include emerging ESS technologies
Be the point of contact to work with regulatory agencies to assess the safety of ESS technologies
Oversee the planning, execution, and management of ESS R&D and technical testbeds and pilots, to ensure that they deliver impactful outcomes
Work closely with government agencies, industry leaders, and technology providers to translate strategies to practical deployment
What we are looking for:
We are looking for candidates with:
A Master's degree or a PhD in electrical engineering or other relevant fields will be an advantage;
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical, economics and operational concepts into actionable insights and practical strategies;
Proven track record in leading programmes/projects of a R&D/strategic nature and successfully transitioning from concept to outcomes and deployment;
Strong writing and communication skills;
The ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to deliver outcomes;
Proven experience in energy systems, ESS projects or related fields is a plus
