Job Description


:Responsible for performing assigned Architectural Engineering tasks to desired quality using Wood work processes, and latest engineering tools on projects; Assist in discipline continuous improvement.Contributes to delivery of engineering excellence and engagement through:

  • Taking Architectural lead role on projects
  • Assisting Chief Architect and Discipline Head in all aspects of section management
  • Performing technical audits, peer reviews and special audits
  • Performing review and approval of deliverables in accordance with Civil Quality Plan
Role-modeling and advocating corporate engagement and behaviors.Responsibilities:Responsibilities for Project Activities:
  • Administration, overall technical direction and co-ordination of all architectural engineering and design work on assigned projects in accordance with Project Execution Plans, applicable Project Procedures and Standards.
  • Overall operation of Architectural Specialists group with high quality and timely completion of their work within the established work hour budgets for the assigned project.
  • Adherence to Foster Wheeler Engineering Procedure / Work Instruction for design safety, and to ensure the adoption of safe attitudes towards engineering design, and that features affecting the safety and integrity of the project are reviewed by appropriately authorized engineers from other groups/departments.
  • Keep assigned Architectural team fully informed of latest applicable codes, standards etc.
  • Ensure adequate manpower resources and their technical competence are available for his assigned area.
  • Prepare deliverables list with man-hour for all Architectural activities.
  • Review and provide input to project schedules to see that all dates and progress are realistic.
  • Attends progress meetings and prepare Architectural Engineering Progress Report.
  • Assist CSA Lead Engineer in preparation of the Discipline Design Instruction (DDI) at the beginning of the project.
  • Brief team about the project critical documents such as project & construction execution procedure, work break down structure, general requirement for 2D & 3D activities, CAD procedures, change management, Architectural general specification, project schedule, important milestones, inter-discipline checks, client specification, check lists, concept sketches etc\xe2\x80\xa6 so that the team is fully aware about the project requirement.
  • Assign and coordinate the activities among the assigned architecture design team members and ensure that proper information are available at any stage of the work.
  • Prepare, review, check, issue and follow up all Architectural deliverables up to the issue for construction.
  • Prepares sub-contract requisitions for architectural work on assigned project including all required attachments and MTO.
  • Prepares technical evaluations of sub-contract enquiries.
  • Ensure all relevant Project Instructions (Client Advice Notice-CAN, Project Advise Notice-PAN or Project Action Memo-PAM, or Technical Clarifications-TC) and Design Instructions (DI), Advance Revision Notice (ARN) are implemented and recorded as per project execution procedure.
  • Review record and control changes outside the scope of work, submit to Project Engineering Manager an estimate of man-hours, costs, and any effect to programme.
  • Assist in site walk-down survey and site walk through with other discipline engineers and Client representative if situation required in resolving technical issues.
  • Conduct/Assist model review with client & internal inline FW procedure.
  • Assist during Technical audit with required documentation etc\xe2\x80\xa6 & close all critical observation immediately after technical audit report is distributed.
  • Coordination with Permitting Coordinator and Qualified Persons (QP) involved in the project for timely delivery of Architectural documents for local authority approval as necessary.
  • Supervise and review subcontracted engineering services execution if any, in accordance to applicable discipline Technical Practices (TPs) and Work Procedures (WPs).
  • Review and reply to the Site Queries (SQ) and Technical Queries (TQ) of the Construction team and the Subcontractors regarding site issues and clarifications.
  • Provide fortnightly report to Section Manager.
  • Provide regular update on project key quantities to PEM/PM/PCM
  • Prepare the engineering butt lists relevant to Architectural disciplines for all remaining activities to be performed.
  • Review & implement lesson learnt from other previous projects.
  • Update regularly lesson learned database.
  • Conduct regular meetings with team to understand & provide constructive solutions for any outstanding open items.
  • Remind Architecture team members to observe the ethics of confidentiality on technologies licensed by Client or Third Parties.
  • Check the timesheets of the Architecture team in the project and ensure correctness of the project \xe2\x80\x9cCharge Code\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Provide feedback to the Chief Architect on any critical technical and organizational issue/s or conflicts in the project.
  • Assist and be part of field engineering team as per project need.
  • The Principal Architect should also perform the duties of the Senior Architect / Architect as and when required by the project.
  • Maintain good communication with the CSA Team, Inter Disciplines, Project Management Team (PM / PEM / PCM), Subcontract Group, Construction Team and Client.
  • Ensure quality during Engineering and Construction, Control and manage the discipline quantities based on the budget quantities, maintain productivity and project progress as per agreed manhour and schedule.
Responsibilities for Non-Project Related Work
  • Provide technical support to the CSA Department as directed by the Civil Section Manager / Chief Architect
  • Participate in bid proposal activities such as preparation of Architecture man-hour estimates, execution plan write-up and presentations to prospective clients when required by Chief Architect / Civil Section Manager
  • Assist in recruitment process for Architects and Designers, conduct technical interviews and support recruitment of technical specialists as directed by Chief Architect / Civil Section Manager.
  • Assist in manpower planning of Architectural team.
  • Assist in the developing, mentoring and training of architectural staff.
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct Architectural Audits and Technical Reviews on projects at the direction of the Civil Section Manager.
  • Conduct Performance reviews of Architects and Designers as required by Chief Architect / Civil Section Manager.
  • Seek new architectural initiatives for continued improvement and assist in implementation in the architectural group.
  • Provide \xe2\x80\x9cFeedback\xe2\x80\x9d to the Chief Architect / Civil Section Manager concerning issues arising from application of standard methods and Work Procedures / Work Instruction / Technical Practices and updates the same.
  • Assist in development and update of Architecture Group\'s Technical Work Practices, Engineering Standards, and Technical Consistency Modules.
  • Suggest ways to improve efficiency, and productivity.
  • Keep abreast of latest technology for Architectural materials and investigate technical acceptability of new products and methods.
  • Carry out technical investigations and produce technical reports related to Architectural issues as and when required.
  • Assist Chief Architect in organizing and carrying out technical meetings and presentations on Architectural Engineering.
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Chief Architect / Civil Section Manager.
  • Deputizes for the Chief Architect when requested.

  • Lead CSA Engineer as Lead Architect
  • Project Engineering Manager as Lead Architect
Supervises:Architectural Team consists of Architects & DesignersLevel of Influence & Decision-making Authority
  • Provides input to Chief Architect and Section Manager on Architectural issues.
  • Provides input to Project Manager / Project Engineering Manager and Section Manager on Architectural aspects of projects.
Qualifications:Qualifications:Degree in Architecture, Registered Professional in any Accredited Professional Entity/Country with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power Plants, Pharmaceutical plants.Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Familiar in use of Architectural 2D & 3D drafting software such as AutoCad, Microstation , Triforma, Revit, AECOsim, 3D max, etc.
  • Knowledge in Local Singapore Permitting Requirements.
Personal attributes:
  • Able to lead, motivate & guide team comprising Architects & Designer.
  • Must have experience in manpower and Architectural design deliverables execution planning and handling.
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant, energetic, taking proactive measure are desired.
