Job Description


:Principal CounsellorStudent Guidance & Counselling Services support students with diverse study needs, such as those who face adjustment issues, study stress, medical conditions or temporary disabilities. Confidential psycho-educational interventions facilitated by professional counsellors employ both education and counselling strategies in individual or group sessions. Students will acquire practical and positive emotional and behavioural skills to improve life adjustment, management of emotions and self-awareness through these sessions.Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standards of quality care through a comprehensive counselling system and support that involve clinical assessment and intervention for psychosocial counselling; academic counselling; admission assessment; referral and preventive programme.
  • Develop and maintain a process of referral to community agencies, public hospitals and private health care.
  • Oversee and provide confidential counselling and guidance support that enhance student well-being and study achievement.
  • Oversee and provide consultation and critical incident intervention to severely distressed students.
  • Oversee and conduct family intervention whenever appropriate and necessary (i.e. students under 18 years old).
  • Provide consultation to staff/ HODs on student mental health/ behavioural issues for front-line intervention and support.
  • Lead team to plan, design and conduct talks/ workshops and awareness campaigns on mental health related issues.
  • Develop and maintain online self-help mental health resources for students and lecturers.
  • Develop and maintain disability and diversity support guidelines/processes for pre-admission assessment.
  • Undertake pre-admission assessments or when needs arise during students\' course of study and advise school management on any special adjustments and academic accommodation eg. alternative examinations, extended time, mobility around campus etc.
  • Liase with university partners on matters relating to access and inclusion for students with disability, physical or mental health conditions to enable equal participation in study.
  • Liaise with university partners on matters relating to academic dishonesty and plagiarism
  • Oversee and provide case discussion, guidance and coaching to junior counsellors
  • Oversee and maintain effective documentation, tracking of trends and evaluation of services and management reporting.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree, Post-Graduate Diploma, or Master Degree in Counselling / Social Work (accredited by SAC / SASW)
  • A registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or a registered social worker with the Singapore Association of Social Workers.
  • At least 10 years of related work experiences with a minimum of 5 years in counselling field
  • Experience in crisis intervention
  • Competent in using appropriate evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach and techniques
  • Competent in delivering talk and facilitating workshop
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret relevant education policies (i.e. requirements of Private Education Institute and partnering Universities)

  • Working Hours: Mondays to Fridays: 9am to 6pm
  • Work Arrangements: Hybrid
  • Location: Singapore (Central Area: Dhoby Ghaut MRT/Little India MRT/Rochor MRT)
