We are committed to creating an AI platform that empowers data scientists and engineers to bring their AI models from conception to production seamlessly.The successful candidate will lead a team of Data Scientists who partner with clinicians to propose, develop, and implement advanced Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Models and pipelines to
augment clinical workflows within the medical cluster. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will provide strategic direction, oversee the team\'s work, and ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of the models and tools for the medical cluster. You will also work closely with our AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI within our organization.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for AI and data science initiatives across the organization, including the annual workplan of Data Science innovation across the organisation.
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics models and machine learning algorithms in key areas such as clinical notes, medical images, and patients\' data
  • Strong operational focus in driving the development of data science capability across the Healthcare Group cluster and focus on conceptualising and delivering new capabilities to transform healthcare and able to plan and manage the entire system of AI models, dashboards and AI software services.
  • Drive the research and development of complex neural network models for text analysis, opinion mining, and other advanced AI tasks
  • Collaborate closely with the AI Ethics and Governance Specialist to identify and mitigate risks in AI projects, support the development and implementation of policy processes, and audit AI models and data sets for bias and fairness
  • Lead the optimization of data analysis processes and systems for enhanced efficiency, maintenance, and scalability
  • Mentor and guide Senior Data Scientists and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of AI and data science, and drive the adoption of relevant new techniques and technologies within the organization
  • Communicate complex data science concepts and the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner to senior leadership and other stakeholders
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Minimum master\'s degree in computer science or related fields with strong statistical learning and machine learning skills
  • PhD degree in related fields is preferred
  • Additional skills and education in management will be taken into consideration.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in the development of end-to-end data analytics solutions and machine learning pipeline including data exploration/extraction/crawling, data processing, and model building
  • Proven experience in leading AI projects and managing virtual teams
  • Proficient in programming in AI related frameworks in any relevant language (e.g. R, Python)
  • Sizing up computational demands of an AI solution, identifying bottlenecks in computational performance and optimising an AI solution to work within computational constraints.
  • Knowledge and experience in machine learning development and deployment on cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data, medical imaging data is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technically and non-technically with ability to translate between the two
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding a team of data scientists
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
