The Senior/Principal Analytical Professional Services Specialist - Food, Environment and Material Science has a core responsibility to create a unique scientific experience among Waters customers in their own work environment. The candidate will provide scientific technical expertise covering all of Waters solutions in the field of preparative chromatography, detectors, mass spectrometry and informatics in the application area of Food, Environment and Material Science.

Responsibilities

  • Deploying novel Waters technologies and system solutions in the customers\' own work environment, with strong emphasis in the areas of Food, Environment and Material Science.
  • Deployment of application solutions and training aspects of Waters offerings in analytical and preparative scale chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, GPC/APC, GC), Spectroscopy (SEC-MALS, UV, FLR, RI), Mass Spectrometry (TQ and QToF), and Informatics (Empower, MassLynx and waters_Connect) both remotely and in the customers\' own laboratory.
  • Providing extraordinary consultancy services to customers that focus on deploying applications and workflows in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Representing Analytical Professional Services at user workshops, international conferences, and on digital media.
  • Partner with APAC and global marketing teams to lead application development activities to support busines development.
  • Collaborating closely and building strong links with the Global Service Support, Service Readiness, Waters Research Laboratory and Quality teams to manage complex escalations, conduct systems and product evaluations, as well as drive continuous innovation and improvements.
  • Participate in late-stage R&D and other service-related projects to improve overall operational excellence, end-user experience and instrument up-time.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Masters Degree, or PhD in scientific area such as chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
Experience:
  • In-depth (5-8 years) analytical chemistry experience in Food, Environment and/or Material Science application areas. Cross-functional and/or applications experience is desired.
  • Working experience in trace level contaminant analysis in food or environmental samples with GC-MS or LC-MS (i.e PFAS, Dioxin, multi-residue pesticide analysis) is essential OR working experience in gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and SEC-MALS in polymer characterization is desired.
  • Working experience in APAC region (i.e India, Japan, Korea and SEA) preferable.
  • Strong networking capabilities and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical and scientific knowledge.

Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry tools such as (not limited to) GC/LC-MS, HPLC, GPC and SEC-MALS is essential.
  • Working experience with sample preparation techniques for food, environmental or chemical material samples is essential.
  • Working experience with Empower, MassLynx, and/or waters_Connect informatics platform is desired.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Additional language skill (major Asian language) is a plus.
Other requirements:
  • The ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 50%).
