Job Description
What the role is:Principal Geospatial EngineerWhat you will be working on:
- Design and implement a robust database architecture to handle complex geospatial datasets, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Develop workflows for automated ingestion, validation, and updating of hyperlocal geospatial data and maps.
- Create advanced data indexing strategies to optimize geospatial queries and retrieval processes.
- Design and deploy backend services (e.g., RESTful APIs) that provide seamless access to geospatial data for middleware and frontend applications.
- Ensure backend services are optimized for high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Degree in Geospatial Science, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in geospatial data engineering or backend development for geospatial applications.
- Proficiency in geospatial databases, GIS tools, and frameworks (e.g., PostGIS, QGIS, GDAL, ArcGIS).
- Experience in backend development (Python, Node.js) and version control systems.
- Expertise in geospatial data formats, tiling services, and OGC standards
- Strong understanding of geospatial concepts and automated cartographic techniques.
- Skills in developing data pipelines, QA/QC processes, and optimising geospatial data workflows.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
