Who we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for

We \xe2\x80\x98re looking for a seasoned and technical cloud DevOps Engineer to be part of the Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure SRE Team and be part of the multi-year cloud transformation program that we have embarked upon. Specifically, the Engineer will design and drive a multi-year Platform Engineering Internal Developer Platform within the Database team. We require someone who has in-depth experience of engineering and integrating platforms and services on public cloud and has worked with development and business agile teams on successful, medium-large scale, cloud database migrations. We are looking for a passionate infrastructure and cloud advocate who understands infrastructure, development and cloud best practices, industry trends, modern technologies and new ways of working.

The base

This role will be based in Singapore from our central business district office in CapitaGreen.

The team

You will be part of the Global Database Team within the Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure SRE Team, which is responsible for managing both on-premises and cloud database infrastructure. You will be a Cloud DevOps Engineer within the Database Team who are subject matter experts for database technologies. You will engineer, build and support a new best-in-class cloud database platform and service offering, and work with multiple development and business teams to onboard and migrate applications to Azure from inception to production go live. You will join a highly technical team who are mainly focused on cloud, who are integral to a successful cloud adoption and migration programme over the coming years.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

• Engineer a best-in-class cloud Internal Developer Platform for databases
• Engineer and integrate cloud database solutions & services to industry best practice with scalability, fault tolerance, highly resilient, highly secure, observability, and simplicity in mind
• Run proof of concepts for new cloud database services or cloud third party tooling
• Work with InfoSec colleagues to review and enhance the Azure security posture
• Devise innovative ideas for solving hard technical problems involving distributed systems, scale and security and translate these ideas into designs and implementation
• Work with peers across the virtual cloud team to understand cloud service or enhancement priorities
• Work closely with development teams to help them through the cloud journey, evaluate and identify new cloud service requirements, and engineer and implement globally
• Identify, triage, and constantly automate and evolve the platform by pushing for change that improves reliability, operability and developer experience
• Every week solve exciting new challenges with an amazing team and technology stack
• Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
• Engineer solutions that are fully automated using infrastructure-as-code and integrated in the CI/CD toolchain

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in infrastructure and cloud devops engineering
• Certified Microsoft Azure Administrator with minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Azure cloud database engineering
• Experience using PowerShell or Python for scripting and database technologies including MS SQL and T-SQL
• Knowledge of several of the following devops tools: Azure DevOps, GIT, Jenkins, AWS CloudFormation, AWS Codestar, Puppet, Chef or Ansible
• Experience creating and using REST APIs
• Knowledge of system and platform security, and to taking a vulnerability-based approach to security hardening
• Experience working with development/delivery stakeholders on cloud application migrations or large scale/complex infrastructure initiatives
• Knowledge of Virtualisation, Networks, Windows, Linux, Storage
• Understanding of PaaS, Infra-As-Code, Compliance-as-Code, and when to use
• Experience with modern engineering and agile practices as well as shift left CI/CD
• Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, infrastructure engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts
• Understanding of broader cloud ecosystem including Cloud Computing Technologies, business drivers and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies and trends.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

• Working knowledge of any of the following database engine in Azure: SQL, Cosmos DB, MySQL Flexible, PostgreSQL Flexible
• Working knowledge of any of the following database engines: Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL
• Working knowledge of any of the following database engine in AWS: Aurora, DynamoDB
• Experienced in designing, engineering, and implementing cloud solutions on Azure or AWS
• Experienced with technologies such as .NET, Nodejs, Ruby, Java
• Experience working in regulated industries such as Financial Services, and those organisations with geographically disperse team
• Hands on experience of designing, engineering and supporting Kubernetes
• Experience of cloud transformation and change programs across technology organizations
• Understanding of Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Platform, Alibaba Cloud
• Understanding Cloud Service capabilities and relative strengths (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCP, Ali)
• Experience in Power BI, Azure Power Platform
