Job Description

a) Over-all Responsibilities / General Function : The job involves supervising all activities in the mill plant with respect to Metallurgy and process control. It entails ensuring that the operating parameters set by the Metallurgy are implemented in the plant and usage of major consumables is within budget. It involves monitoring and evaluating the performance of the process and providing remedial measures to correct metallurgical problems. It also entails the supervision over the operation of the Metallurgical Laboratory.b) Key Responsibilities

• Supervises all sections of the mill with respect to quality control and Metallurgy in close coordination with the operators' Mill Operations Supervisor and/or Foreman.
• Informs the operators and Mill Operations Supervisor of the results of process monitoring activities such as parameter checks as well as the necessary adjustments required.
• Leads and supervises the Metallurgical Technicians in the conduct of plant and laboratory tests for process optimization and research and development.
• Evaluates and reports test results as well as historical plant performances.
• Reviews and checks worksheets of Metallurgical Technicians.
• Provides important data and specifications for the proper selection of process equipment and adjustments in existing equipment.
• Supervises the Reagent Area in the mixing of chemicals; must have up-to-date inventories of the chemicals/reagents available in the mill plant.
• Monitors reagent mixing and reagent consumption and ensures that it is within prescribed limits.
• Investigates metallurgical problems in the Milling Operations and implements possible solutions.
• Provides updated Standard Operating Procedure on the activities of Metallurgical Laboratory Technicians, Samplers, and Operations personnel.
• Accomplishes studies, reports, and other tasks as required by the Senior Metallurgist.
• Ensures that all Company safety, environment, risk management, and security policies, as well as administrative rules & regulation, and departmental SOPs and guidelines are consistently implemented and carried out in his area of responsibility.
