Product Engineer I


Summary / Major Function of the Job:


Reporting directly to the PE Area Manager, this position shall observe recurrent problems, contribute ideas for possible improvements and lead in implementation of improvements, with support, as required. The Product Engineer (PE) shall assist in the preparation of technical information, sources and prepares data, and presents in information-sharing forums, with guidance, as required. The PE shall perform complex technical problem solving with guidance, conduct investigation, gather, and test data. S/He shall identify options and impacts and liaises with experts to bring about a conclusion. S/He is expected to develop and manage the implementation of a project plan that inputs to broader projects, monitor progress; identify potential barriers and take corrective action. S/He shall perform complex engineering tasks as instructed, demonstrate engineering/scientific knowledge and logic, and communicate options to Senior Engineer to determine next steps.


The successful applicant is expected to understand the business objectives, follow standard work instructions, to find and fix problems, continuously seek improvements on various processes and standards; and utilize a wide variety of manufacturing tools (i.e., 5S, Lean concept, Visual management, 6 sigma and other improvement tools applicable).

This role will require someone who has a great focus on quality and can demonstrate a Zero-Defect Mindset where he/she will commit to do things right the first time, every time; creating a work environment where nearly right and good enough are not acceptable.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• BS degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering)

Training in Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA or Six-Sigma is an advantage

• Two years’ experience in complex manufacturing as Process Engineer, Assembly & Test Technician, or similar field
• Experience in the assembly & test of mechanical actuation and servo-control systems is an advantage

Others:


Working knowledge of the Lean Management System, Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement as well as Zero Defect Mindset supporting the Moog Quality System will be an advantage.
