Job Description


Job Responsibilities:

To support and be part of division on engineering and administrative matters.

Design and develop mechanical related systems and/or components to required specifications for use across military and commercial applications with focus on Marine and Naval environment including:

  • Launch & Recovery Systems (LARS)
  • Mobile Shelter systems,
  • Trailer Systems,
  • Platform Systems.
To manage projects and not limiting to: (Indoor and outdoor site visits/work required).
  • Liaising with customers, team members and contractors to schedule meetings and to make general enquiries.
  • Prepare Invitation to Tender (ITT) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents for procurement of materials.
  • Update project schedule.
  • Coordinate resources for acceptance testing (FAT/OSAT), and system commissioning.
  • Collaborate with external partners in joint product development projects
  • Establish engineering specifications and production processes to meet technical, functional, and quality requirements
  • Coordinate and support manufacturing of prototypes and products to ensure reliability and quality of product
  • Develop and perform assembly and test procedures for product according to specifications
  • Support product installations and any necessary troubleshooting, service, and repair
Support project quality assurance and system safety.
  • Draft and maintain project Installation Control Document (ICD).
  • Inspect materials and finished products.
  • Identification of hazards, and propose control and mitigation actions.
Update and generate project and engineering documentation.
  • Maintain and document project Architecture, Configuration Management (CM), System/Subsystem Design Description (SSDD), Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) figures.
  • Update and generate project Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation, including maintenance manuals and spare parts list.
  • To be involved in projects from conceptualisation of design through to implementation, testing and handover.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include engineers from other specialist areas as well, marketing and technicians and customer service personnel, including representatives from client organizations.
To be involved at every stage of design and development or may just be involved at one particular stage. The nature of the role varies according to project requirements, but the range of activities common is likely to include:
  • Conducting FEA studies and analysis;
  • Determining Centre Of Gravity (cog);
  • Identifying customer requirements;
  • Designing systems and products;
  • Reading design specifications and technical drawings;
  • Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs and timescales;
  • Making models and prototypes of products using three-dimensional design software;
  • Designing and conducting tests;
  • Recording, analyzing and interpreting test data;
  • Proposing modifications and retesting products;
  • Qualifying the final product or system;
  • Preparing product documentation, writing reports and giving presentations;
  • Monitoring a product in use to improve on future design.
Experience and qualification:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (focus on Naval or Marine Engineering & Architecture)
  • Familiar with confidential environment and requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office, project, VISIO and cad/cam drawings (eg. Solidworks).
  • Naval or marine (technical) experience preferred.
