We are looking for a project intern to join one of our teams in the first half of 2024. You will be working closely with one of our teams (description of hiring teams below) with key responsibilities and opportunities including:
Support evaluation of investment opportunities in companies through industry/company research and analysis
Support scoping of value creation opportunities for portfolio companies such as: industry landscaping, peer benchmarking, strategy refocusing, JV/Partnership analysis
Monitor market trends, performance of portfolio companies and supporting landscaping studies of companies in new sectors
Prepare financial models and write investment memos
Work closely with the team to support the preparation of presentations and analysis
Qualifications/Capabilities
Pursuing a Bachelor\'s degree in any discipline, preferably having taken modules in finance, accounting, corporate finance, or economics, and with a passion in investing
Previous internship experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital or M&A / corporate development is preferred
High level of interpersonal and communication skills
Strong financial literacy, analytical skill and spreadsheet modelling skills
Able to work well with diverse teams and deal with multiple stakeholders
Self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independently

Financial Services
The Financial Services team, with one of the largest portfolios in Temasek, invests globally in companies that benefit from long term secular themes such as the digitization of commerce and infrastructure. The team evaluates opportunities from early-stage disruptors to more mature cash generative companies listed in public markets, in core focus areas such as i) payments and commerce enablement, ii) capital market infrastructure, iii) financial software, iv) emerging market technology platforms and v) digital assets.
Innovation
The Innovation team is responsible for identifying and investing in promising early stage and high growth companies globally across sectors. The team is focused on investing in disruptive technology companies at Series C and earlier. There is a global mandate with a core focus in North America, Europe, Israel and SEA. Portfolio companies include Zipline, Perfect Day, Solugen, Truelayer, Solid Energy and PortalOne, among others.
Industrials, Business Services, Energy & Resources (IBE)
IBE is a sector-focused team that looks to build deep domain knowledge across the Industrials, Business Services and Energy industries to identify and invest in both public and private companies globally. Examples of IBE\'s investment focus areas include companies which support the clean energy transition, develop circular economies and enable advanced industrial manufacturing.
Impact Investing
Impact Investing team focuses on investing into innovative business solutions that tackle challenges for the underserved demographic across global emerging markets. Sectors of interest include financial services, healthcare, agriculture, education, and climate.
Our strategy predominantly focuses on fund investments by supporting leading impact fund managers (both private equity and venture capital) while developing a portfolio of direct / co-investments to deepen the impact. Beyond investments, the team also has developed its proprietary Impact Management and Measurement framework and actively engages with the impact investing ecosystem to advance impact practice. The team is also actively involved in broader impact ecosystem building, collaborating with partners in Asia and beyond, incl. Centre for Impact Investing & Practices, GIIN, etc.
Potential candidate should be passionate about making a difference, preferably with skillsets and demonstrated interests in emerging markets, finance / investing and impact methodologies/measurement.
Private Equity Fund Investments (PEFI)
PEFI invests in many of the world\'s premier Private Equity fund managers. With a portfolio that spans across the Americas, Europe and Asia, we generate many fund and direct co-investment opportunities in different industries globally. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience of both Private Equity fund and direct investments opportunities alongside our global investment team.
POD-Artificial Intelligence (POD-AI)
The AI Pod aims to build deep expertise and make strategic investments in AI to empower Temasek and its portfolio ecosystem to deliver better commercial outcomes. The AI Pod has set up a number of ventures, including Minden.ai and Aicadium.
Potential candidate should ideally have an interest in the field of AI, preferably with a background in either finance/VC/investing or software engineering.
Portfolio Development Group (PDG)
PDG is constituted as a focused team to partner select major portfolio companies on strategic repositioning and/or value creation initiatives. It works closely with the Boards and Management of these portfolio companies to (i) perform strategic reviews of current business lines in light of changing industry conditions, (ii) determine point-of-arrival and identify capability gaps, and (iii) evaluate and execute on strategic initiatives that would reposition the company and its stakeholders for sustainable and profitable long-term growth. Examples of strategic initiatives that could be undertaken include - transformational M&A, corporate restructuring, JV/partnerships for new markets, etc.
Strategic Development
This team within Temasek assesses investment opportunities in early-stage, deep-tech ventures that are developing novel & differentiated technologies in the fields of decarbonization, computing and materials science.
Structuring & Execution
S&E is Temasek\'s in-house M&A specialist team within the Investment Group and focuses on structuring and executing large and complex transactions for Temasek. The team has worked on
US$20b of announced deals in 2022, spanning various sectors and geographies. Examples of transactions include public and private M&A, JVs, capital raises and restructuring, among others.
The successful candidate will be joining a lean and highly collaborative team, working closely with various teams across the Temasek ecosystem. This internship also provides the opportunity for candidates to hone their corporate finance skills and a springboard into investment banking, with past interns placing into Tier 1 investment banks / private equity firms.
