Project Officer (linguistic Analysis)
Job Description
A Project Officer (Research) position in Language Documentation is available in the Linguistics and Multilingual Studies Programme at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preparing audio-visual linguistic data for archiving, including transcription and aligning text to sound files
Assist with the acoustic analysis of tone and phonological inventories of selected languages of NE India
Support the creation of electronic dictionaries for selected languages of Nagaland, NE India
Conduct directed research on linguistic typology
Perform light administrative duties
Revamp and maintain an existing web site for the NTU Language Documentation Lab
Job Requirements:
BA with a major in linguistics is an essential qualification
Familiarity with the International Phonetic Alphabet and the ability to transcribe data
Sound research and writing skills
Familiarity with linguistic analysis and documentation software (e.g. Praat, Keyman,Toolbox/FLEX, Saymore etc) would be an advantage
Video-editing and website-building skills would be an advantage
