- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms.
- Interpret client requirements and architectural plans to prepare accurate quantity take offs and detailed HVAC component lists for tendering and cost control.
-Oversee cost estimation, quantity take offs, and budget control for HVAC systems or plumbing while identifying cost-saving opportunities, ensuring accurate financial documentation, and managing risk throughout the project life-cycle.
-Prepare BOQs by analysing specification sheets and identifying discrepancies with drawings and contract documents for resolution.
-Preparing the initial quote and contract for the sales team from the company's side.
-Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders--including clients, design teams, and engineers to optimize project outcomes, review drawings, and ensure value for money.
-Manage interim and final valuations, claims, and variations, ensuring accurate assessments of work progress and contract compliance.
-Conducting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
-Any other duties as and when assigned by superior from time to time.
Required skills and qualifications
Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
Professional membership or certification in quantity surveying or construction management.
Minimum 3 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost consulting, with at least 2 years specializing in HVAC or MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).
In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems--including ductwork and piping--and familiarity with applicable service guidelines such as NBC, ANSI/ASHRAE, and LEED standards.
Strong grasp of construction industry practices, regulations, and standards.
Skilled in interpreting and validating drawings using AutoCAD and solid work.
Familiar with contract administration, legal aspects, and various project delivery models such as design-build and lump-sum contracts.
Proficiency in cost estimation, quantity take offs from architectural drawings, and use of relevant surveying software and tools.
Capable of managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Effective communicator with strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
