Roles & Responsibilities
The role of a Quantity Surveyor involves a range of responsibilities related to project cost management and financial planning. Here's a breakdown of the responsibilities, requirements, and remuneration for the position:
Cost & Commercial Management
Prepare and manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports.
Conduct cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and advise management on project profitability.
Manage procurement processes, including supplier/subcontractor negotiations and contract administration.
Arrange timely payments to suppliers and contractors.
Liaise with the factory team to validate material requirements, production costs, and shop drawing implications on budgets and variations.
Quantity Surveying & Valuations
Assist in tendering and bidding processes, including BOQs, cost estimates, and price analysis.
Prepare interim payment applications, variations, and final accounts.
Conduct valuations of completed work for payment purposes.
Assess and certify subcontractor claims and progress payments.
Factory Coordination, Scheduling & QAQC
Work with the factory manager to monitor factory schedules and ensure production aligns with project timelines.
Verify shop drawings and material specifications against project budgets.
Support QAQC checks to ensure that manufactured items meet contractual and design specifications before delivery.
Identify and escalate potential factory-related risks (e.g., delays, material shortages, or quality issues) that could impact project costs.
Claims & Dispute Resolution
Prepare, evaluate, and defend claims related to variations, delays, and contractual disputes.
Liaise with legal advisors, consultants, and clients to resolve disputes commercially and efficiently.
Leadership & Collaboration
Work closely with project managers, designers, and production teams to align budgets with design and client expectations.
Report directly to senior management on commercial status, risks, and opportunities.
Support project planning and scheduling where commercial input is required.
Requirements:
Singaporeans
Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or related field.
3-5 years' experience in quantity surveying, preferably in interior fit-out, joinery, or furniture projects.
Experience in factory liaison, production scheduling, or QAQC will be an advantage.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and cost management software (e.g., Candy, CostX) preferred.
Knowledge of MS Project or similar scheduling tools an advantage.
Remuneration:
Salary: S$4,000 to S$5,000 (depending on experience).
Working Hours: 44 hours per week.
