Job Description


JPMorgan Chase's research technology strategy and direction is oriented through investigation and research of emerging technologies, such as quantum technologies. Our firm is seeking a passionate FPGA engineer to perform applied research and development of novel solutions in quantum communications and cryptography. As a key member of the Future Lab for Applied Research and Engineering (FLARE) Team, you will work closely with internal project teams, senior management, and external communities alike to advance these research focus areas in a way that is beneficial to the technical teams in the company. You will cultivate investigations into these areas, produce research solutions in collaboration with the internal project teams, and contribute to the firm's intellectual property.

The Purpose of Your Role:

  • To design, verify, test and deploy robust and scalable FPGA-based communication systems for quantum cryptography/communications
  • To work closely with a team of researchers and engineers, build software/hardware platforms, and build and integrate research components in those platforms
  • To lead the conception and delivery of novel solutions to problems faced by internal project teams
  • To advance the field of quantum communications and cryptography (e.g., quantum key distribution and secure computation)
  • To contribute to JPMC's IP by pursuing necessary protections of generated IP
  • To help establishing JPMC's reputation in the scientific field via publication of select results in

The Expertise We Are Looking For:
  • A Bachelor degree in Electrical/ Computer/ Information Engineering
  • At least 4+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA development for control and communications
  • Experience in digital signal processing and algorithms for communications/cryptography
  • Industrial research and development experience within a technology organization, innovation lab, or equivalent
  • Experience in technical writing in a scientific or technical field
  • Excellent written and visual presentation skills
  • Ability to represent the firm externally at academic and industry conferences as well as speaking engagements
  • Prior hands on experience as a researcher in a lab is preferred
  • Familiarity and or experience in financial services is preferred
