About the role

When looking for a solution for a problem, knowing the law is only half of the equation.

Reporting to the Regional Legal Counsel in our Asia-Pacific office, this role aims to impart you with a practical experience to deal with the other aspects of the practice of law \xe2\x80\x93 the business and the operations.

This role is principally targeted towards streamlining the Asia-Pacific\xe2\x80\x99s ways of working and supporting the business\xe2\x80\x99 internal clients through legal innovation and operations projects. You will also have the opportunity to assist with contracts, advice, claims, and corporate governance.

This 6 months internship commences January 2024.

What you will be doing

Principal Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming, sourcing, and implementing solutions to improve legal processes for contract review, claims handling and corporate governance
  • Driving Asia-Pacific\xe2\x80\x99s legal innovation and operations projects
  • Assisting in the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Harmonizing knowledge management throughout the Asia-Pacific legal departments
  • Raising the visibility of the legal department and educating our internal clients
Additional Opportunities
  • Preparation of advice for a variety of contractual matters which may include freight and logistics services, sea/air charters, intra-company contracts, IT vendors and leases
  • Considering and assisting in corporate governance and comparative law regulations
  • Understanding and assessing handling freight and logistics claims
Requirements

The successful candidate

Essential
  • Undergraduate Law Degree with good knowledge in contract and company law
  • Strong interest in business, operations, systems, processes, and workflows
  • Proactive, collaborative, meticulous and eager to learn
  • Reliable, respectful, and responsive
  • High standard of ethics and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • A curious mind that frequently questions: How can we do this better?
Desirable
  • Technologically savvy
  • Knowledge of maritime law and insurance
  • Previous working experience in any industry
