The Role
As part of the global legal team, you will be a key resource supporting Veeva’s teams in Asia and the main point of contact for data privacy-related topics in the region for the entire company. This role provides the opportunity for an exceptional legal professional with privacy experience to join a dynamic, in-house legal team at a cutting-edge leading cloud software company and to advance their career by tackling complex commercial and data privacy issues.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with high integrity and will be able to prioritize and manage multiple competing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an upbeat and customer-focused attitude. You will also enjoy working collaboratively with other team members both inside and outside the Legal team and are able to communicate effectively at all levels.
What You’ll Do

• Draft/negotiate a range of domestic subscription licenses and service agreements
• Support commercial contracting team in negotiation of privacy terms in customer agreements
• Provide training to Asia employees on privacy-related matters
• Act as a private resource to innovative product and business teams by reviewing data inputs and legal requirements for bringing products to market and engage external counsel as needed
• Advise business clients and global/regional legal teams on local law, legal issues and compliance, risks, agreement structures, and company policies

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in negotiating, revising and drafting simple non-disclosure agreements, commercial license agreements, and services agreements.
• Privacy certifications (e.g., CIPP/A, etc.) or willingness to certify
• Experience drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection agreements (e.g., DPAs, data use agreements, SCCs, etc.)
• Knowledge of privacy laws, including but not limited to China PIPL, Japan APPI, Korea PIPA, India PDP, etc.
• University degree or above
• Bar admission in the US, UK, Singapore, or Australia
• Strong ability to multi-task and manage many different types of projects/assignments at once
• Ability to provide pragmatic and actionable advice by identifying and evaluating legal risks and obligations under privacy laws
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a passion for being part of a high performing team

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in a technology, consumer or life sciences company
• Familiarity with global data protection regulations, including EU GDPR, and information security controls such as ISO, SOC 2, etc.
