Role Responsibilities
The role holder will be involved in building and maintaining proprietary databases related to regional rates markets, and EM flows. The role will also involve working closely with senior analyst on analytics, and research of EM flows, and regional rates markets leading to high-quality research publications the Bank’s internal and external stakeholders. Strategy The individual will be responsible for delivering a range of client-led research approaches for content, content delivery and client engagement across product and geographies. Business The role will entail the following

  • Joint responsibility for timely delivery of proprietary EM flow strategy coverage. This involves timely updating of data, ensuring data accuracy, and attending to stakeholder requests on EM flows.
  • Co-ordinate with senior analyst to analyse cross-asset investment themes and develop proprietary indicators / signals that help key stakeholders of the bank.
  • Support senior analyst in coverage of regional rates markets, flows strategy, and new initiatives.
  • Engage with bank’s clients to disseminate the bank’s research and service client requests.
  • Be a strong partner with sales, trading and capital markets around the rates strategy offering.

  • Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.
  • Ensure implementation of procedures and controls as a result of changes in products, systems, policy or regulations.
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the broader research team.
  • Take an active role in the development and encouragement of junior talent in the Research group.
Risk Management The candidate will be responsible for
  • Developing an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them.
  • Ensuring a full understanding of the risk and control environment within Global Research.
Governance The candidate will be responsible for developing awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Regulatory and Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Support the FX and Macro Strategy team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Discharge all required FCA prescribed responsibilities as defined for a Certified Person (CP-CDF) - Client Dealing Function.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • The candidate would require a degree in economics or closely related subject and experience of Investment Research, including emerging markets.
  • 4 years of experience in Research Analyst,
  • The ability to write to a high standard and have excellent communications skills is essential.
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to quickly learn) data science concepts, and related programming languages such as Python, and / or R.
  • Advanced Product Knowledge.
  • Advanced Financial Analysis.
  • Advanced Client relationships.
