The candidate will work in a new Battery Laboratory on a portfolio of research & development projects (not academic-focused) exploring the application of 2D materials on energy storage devices:
Review and understand scientific and technical literature
Execute supervised R&D projects in the area of electrochemical energy storage systems
Explore new cathode, electrolyte, separator, and anode materials and/or modifications for improved cell performance with supervision
Prepare electrode slurries with different formulations
Fabricate battery components and assemble coin and pouch cells for testing
Design, establish, and write standard operating procedures, risk assessments, and effective experimental plans for assigned equipment and processes
Calibrate/maintain the assigned equipment
Perform laboratory analyses, evaluate the results, and clearly present reports to the team and suggest new pathways
Work in glovebox and dry room battery fabrication line
Manage general laboratory inventory (e.g., consumable inventory)
Work collaboratively with partnering collaborators and research groups
Work in a laboratory environment within a team of multidisciplinary and multicultural researchers
Participate in routine housekeeping
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an internationally recognised diploma (polytechnic), bachelor or master degree in chemistry, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material science/engineering or related field
Team-player, self-motivation, proactivity, intellectual curiosity, and desire to learn
Able to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis
Technical depth, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills
Experience with design and build battery cells from coin cell to pouch cell configurations
Experience with electrochemical cell characterizations, e.g., cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods
Hands-on experience in evaluation of the battery components, battery performance, and analytical techniques, e.g., SEM, XRD, TEM, FTIR, NMR, and XPS
Experience working in dry room battery fabrication line
Experience with pouch cell abusing test preferred but not required
Previous experience working in an industrial environment or in R&D projects with industrial partners
Covid-19 Message
