Neste is the number one producer of renewable diesel from waste and residues and aims to maintain this global leadership by further growing the raw material pool and production platforms. To support these ambitious targets we set up an Innovation Centre in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The new APAC Innovation Centre is located in Science Park II in the west part of Singapore. Once operational, the centre will focus on analytical and feedstock research as well as partnerships and opportunities for new innovations in the APAC area. Approximately 40 researchers and other professionals will be hired gradually from 2022 to 2025 to the Innovation centre, which will be fully operational from 2023 onwards.

We are looking for a Research Assistant, Feedstock and Pre-treatment to join our Feedstock and Pre-treatment team in Neste Asia Pacific (APAC) Innovation Centre Singapore.

We are now seeking a highly motivated and capable person to join the F&P team and drive the establishment of the Neste APAC Innovation Centre in Singapore. An essential part of the F&P team's work is to develop purification technologies for Neste's raw material base expansion. We also participate in troubleshooting activities.

The position requires a 1-3 weeks induction period in Finland.

Your part in Neste journey

In this role, your main responsibilities include

• impact on introducing F&P laboratory to the APAC Innovation Centre
• perform pre-treatment experiments of waste and residue raw materials in collaboration with researchers and other laboratory personnel
• prepare samples and requests for further analyses, and report test results
• participate in laboratory daily maintenance tasks
• participate in the continuous development of our laboratory practises and methods

You will work closely with Neste R&D in Finland e.g. Feedstock and pre-treatment and NEXBTL technology platform departments. You will work closely with researchers and other research assistants in Singapore and Finland as well as internal stakeholders (refineries, supply chain, projects) and relevant external stakeholders, such as equipment suppliers. You will report to the R&D Manager, F&P of APAC Innovation Centre.

Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or laboratory field, polytechnic graduate from chemical process technology or other relevant, graduate from Institute of Technical Education in laboratory field
• At least 5 years of relevant laboratory work experience
• Good organising skills and ability to manage several tasks at the same time
• Active and initiative working style
• Safety oriented mind-set
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Good collaboration skills

• Experience in experimental process or product research and development
• Experience in working with pressure vessels
• Knowledge in working with flammable materials/hazardous chemicals
• Attitude of a team player
